If you’re someone who just needs a yearly checkup and doesn’t ask many questions, she might work for you. But if you’re an informed patient who actively researches, tracks labs, and wants to understand your body—RUN. Don’t stay past your welcome like I did. Over time, you’ll feel the shift—she becomes visibly tired of questions, follow-ups, and accountability. Eventually, she’ll make it clear you’re no longer wanted in her care. The note she left in my chart stated that I was “essentially looking for something to be wrong” was incredibly disheartening—especially after I trusted her with sensitive, personal information in what I thought was a safe space. I was sadly mistaken. Ironically, I finally started getting real answers after my last appointment—thanks to labs I specifically requested from another doctor. One came back abnormal, another was quite low, and both likely explain the symptoms I’ve struggled with for years—including why my B12 was consistently high. It was validating,… but frustrating that it took so much self-advocacy to get there. While she seemed urgent about referring me to a specialist, the soonest appointment was a month and a half out—which doesn’t help me now. And even with that referral, it doesn’t excuse the years of overlooked labs, lack of follow-through, or absence of symptom support while under her care. I’m pretty sure the response to this post will be nothing more than a dismissive “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” “the labs don’t explain anything,” or “Dr. David tried all she could.” But I honestly don’t need to hear any of that. The actions—in person and in MyChart—spoke louder than any response I’m likely to get. Especially the repeated push toward mental health explanations while I was experiencing physical pain. I get it now. You were ready for me to go. I also reported this doctor to the NC state medical board.
