On Saturday, July 11, 2009, Dr. James T. Aris of Wilton Center Family Dentistry received the prestigious Fellowship Award during the convocation ceremony of the Academy of General Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Aris is a 1987 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Dental School where he received his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry and was also president of the Endodontics Club. He is also an alumnus of Drew University where he was a member of the Biological Honor Society. “I feel fortunate to work and live in such a vibrant community with great patients and friends!” says Dr. Aris “Receiving this fellowship is an honor that confirms my commitment to staying current with the latest techniques and education in dentistry to serve my patients.”
Dr. Aris is committed to life-long learning, and is one of the founders of the Wilton Dental Study Group launched 15 years ago. In addition, he attends continuing education courses on a regular basis. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Society, Academy of General Dentists, and past president of the Greater Norwalk Dental Society. He is also listed in Global Register’s Who’s Who in Executive and Professionals.
To earn a Fellowship Award, a dentist must earn a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits and pass a comprehensive 400 question examination. A dentist must also be an Academy of General Dentistry member for five continuous years. While attaining Fellowship is a challenge, it allows dentists to remain current with what is new in dentistry, and to incorporate the latest techniques into their practices. Dr. Aris and his wife, Pamela, have two sons, Theo and Andy, and reside in Redding, CT. Animal lovers, they have two pugs, a cat and fish. Mrs. Aris received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Drew University, and also attended Sarah Lawrence College for creative writing.
