Dr. James Thomas Barker, MD

Horrible man who will not listen to a woman's experiences and will completely ignore all of her diagnosis just to push the meds he wants.

Dr. Barker made a very favorable impression on me during my first recent visit with him. His staff was very friendly and nice as well! I would highly recommend him to anyone. I felt as though I have known him for years. Made me feel at ease and very comfortable. Thank you, Dr. James Barker??

Dr.Barker is a very good and compassionate doctor. He helped my fiance with his problems. He is getting better and has a support system,but I am not and I do not have a support system because of family sickness going on, so I have to deal with things myself now most of the time. I am staying with a friend,who gets me a bite to eat and gets me my basic needs and that is about it.I haven't seen Dr.Barker, so he is not the cause of it. I haven't seen my fiance in a over a month. I miss him so much. I love him and I thank Dr.Barker for getting him better.I cry over that too.

He put me on two meds with known major negative interaction and wouldn't explain anything.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Dr Barker and the office staff.

worst bedside manner ever

I had a traumatic episode and desperately needed to talk to Dr. Barker. He never even called me back. This is abandonment, neglectful, and unprofessional to say the least. Forget it if you have an emergency unless you can get him on his after hours on call number.

Our experience with Dr. Barker has been a very pleasent one. He is very good with my son and gets him to talk even though it is very difficult to get him to open up. We've seen many doctors and Dr. Barker has been the best for our child and he was highly recommended. We haven't always agreed on the amount of meds my son takes though. Seems very quick to prescribe another med but is also very good about tweaking the dosages. He has a very calming voice and bedside manner and over all we are very pleased with him. However, the office he is in is terrible. The staff are rude and will let you stand right in front of them for minutes at a time before they even speak (how about, "I'll be right with you") and I totally agree with the last post. You will NEVER get a human on the phone at this office. They do not answer the phone. So, if you leave a message and aren't there when they call back be prepared to call over and over again. This office needs a new office manager. I have… stood there and seen several employess standing around chatting while the phone rings and no one will answer it. In short, if Dr. Barker wasn't so good with our child we would find another practice just because of the poor customer service the front office provides. Customers are NOT #1 in this office however, we'll do whatever it takes to help our son. Thanks for reading.

Dr. Barker was able to quickly and successfully make a diagnosis. He knows which questions to ask and listens very carefully, so I didn't have to spend a lot of time and money just sitting around talking. In the beginning, I was able to see him often so that he could monitor how I was responding to new meds. I have since seen Dr. Barker 2-3 a year for the last 5 years. He is one of the most understanding and compassionate doctors I have seen. When he says to call him if you need him, he really does mean it, and calls back. I would recommend Dr. Barker highly for his expertise, professionalism, and caring manner.

Upon suffering a truly traumatic family experience I found myself in Dr. Barker's office. Like many others, I did not feel seeing a psychiatrist was necessary. Dr. Barker brought me out of the protective stupor I had developed and helped me find the skills needed to cope with my situation appropriately. I have absolutely no reservations recommending him. He showed compassion, understanding, and was able to identify my issues quickly.
