Dr. James Mark Battin, DO

About a year ago I visited Dr Battin as part of a VA physical. He did an excellent job setting me up for heart scans and other tests. Highly recommend to Francis Hall

For at least 10 years, I suffered from high blood pressure (hypertension). It was initially diagnosed in 2007 while I was still serving in the Air Force on active duty. After my separation from the military, I began receiving medical care through non-Veteran's Administration medical doctors and clinics. For at least 10 years, I continued the management of my high blood pressure through private practice and using corporate private health insurance. When some unexpected financial troubles suddenly happened in my life, I found myself with no employment and no healthcare. I had no choice and had to stop my hypertension medications when they ran out. For a few years, I went without taking any high blood pressure medication. I then learned about my eligibility for heath care through the Veterans Administration (VA) so I applied and began receiving my care through the VA. I was extremely lucky and blessed to have been placed under Dr. James Battin care. He was extremely thorough in… obtaining my medical history. He was thoughtful and cautious as he gradually increased my medication while ordering a plethora of blood tests. Over the course of about six weeks, he began to make associations between my low potassium levels, high Aldosterone levels and my unusually high blood pressure readings. He quickly suspected Hyper-Aldosteronism, but needed confirmation from CT scans and further blood tests conducted by Endocrinologists at both the Martinsburg, WV and Washinghton D.C. VA Medical Centers. After a few months of additional and more specific blood test were done, the diagnosis was confirmed - I had Conn's Syndrone. Lucky for me, it was correctable through the removal of the left adrenal gland. My Surgery was scheduled and I was successful. I now feel like a new person. After suffering with this disease for so many years, I had completely forgotten what it was like to be normal again. My energy levels have returned, I have lost more than 20 lbs, I sleep through the night and feel well rested upon awakening. I am a new person and I owe it completely to Dr. James Battin's thorough examination which led to my diagnosis and treatment of my Conn's Syndrone. Thank You Dr. Battin! EJA
