I could not have found a more trustworthy physician to advise me on whether to undergo surgery or not. Though Dr. Bumgarner would profit from my surgery, he gave me the choices that he would hope to receive if he were in my shoes. He spoke frankly and let me know that though the text book protocol is to operate, "If you were my family member, I wouldn't advise it, given the risks....I suggest you undergo diagnostic tests every 6 months and we'll make sure we catch anything that could warrant surgery." Dr. B also answered any inquiries I had by email, called other physicians, and even spoke with my daughter to explain to her my complex case, his evaluation, and recommendations.
