Dr. James Steven Burdick

My husband was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer. Dr B was so straight forward with us and so attentive to us it was shocking. He was verybstraightforward which some may interpret at not caring or cold- in fact it is just the opposite. He truly cares about the patient, the family and how to best treat all. He was wonderful to my husband and my entire family. He was a million tikes more in tune with our needs and took time to answer every question. I wish he had been our oncologist

Dr. Burdick is simply a great person professionally and as a human being. He answered all of my concerns and made me feel less stressed prior to my surgery. I had an adenoma located on my duodenum which Dr. Burdick removed. This surgery is no easy task but Dr. Burdick completed it!!! Thank you Dr. Burdick. I highly recommend Dr. Burdick to anyone in need of an Advanced Gastroenterologist.

I only saw the dr. Once for a procedure and whatever he did made me pain free for awhile. I needed a follow up but they must have moved their office and I wasn’t able to get in to see him but I am thrilled now to get his help once again.

I had a gastric leak for 4 months and was on a picc line and TPN , Nothing to eat or drink of 4 months, when my primary dr couldn't figure out how to fix me he suggested I go see Dr Burdick , after a couple different procedures he fixed my leak and I am now eating and drinking . Waiting on my primary dr to take picc line out . I recommend Dr Burdick , he gave me hope on my very first visit and told me he was going to take care of my problem and he sure did. He has a great team that works for him and you couldn't ask for a better hospital than Baylor.

I set an appointment with Dr. Burdick in his Irving office as a new patient to help diagnose issues. I arrived at my 9:30am appointment. The front desk said they only handle the other doctors' patients and to wait. 15 minutes after my appointment, his two staff arrived but no one came to get me or acknowledge me. At 30 mins past my appointment, I left but called his number to see what the issue was. It went straight to voicemail. I then emailed the nurse who had been corresponding with me prior to the appointment and she said she had been working on the computer system and just forgot me (she had just seen me waiting in the waiting room when she walked in 15 minutes past my appointment) and the doctor wasn't even in yet. I told her I had driven 40 minutes to get there and waited 30 minutes with no one coming out and that is total disrespect to my time and total disregard to patients. Sharing so everyone will know before making an appointment on their lack of professionalism and care.

He treated me while admitted to the hospital with Chronic Pancreatitis and a bad gallbladder in which he still said it was not contributing to the issue, even though it was full of sludge & scare tissue. I layed there 13 days deathly sick. He was terribly rude to me whenever he would come in, making snide comments & sarcastically saying “do you ever get out of That Bed!” There was No communication between Burdick & Surgeons or me being the patient!! All he ever communicated to me was how terrible my Pancreas was. Not explaining why just “it’s Really Bad!” I was scared to death, in massive pain, accompanied by severe nausea. One of my Nurses actually apologized that he was my Dr. She said she worked in the GI lab with Dr Burdick for 3 yrs and stated he was terribly rude to her & the other nurses & co-workers So she transferred out of the GI Lab at Baylor University Dallas Hospital because of Burdick. For someone that is so proud of his accomplishments & himself; it truly makes you… wonder what does he care about?.. It certainly isn’t his patients or co- workers. In my mind that’s just as bad as being in the care of a Physician that made it through medical school but has zero talent in his specialty!! Eventually that temper & lack of empathy will be the cause of someone’s demise!!

I had a pain in my side, n bilirubin was high,I left in do much pain. 6 weeks later,I learned I had h. Pylori,no one from his office contacted me they had the rest results about 5 weeks. They just blew me off.extremely sad Karin king

The best specialist. Dr. Burdick sits and explains everything you ask about and in language you can understand. The staff is always available and returns calls with answers to questions IF they did not have them right then and there. As a liver transplant patient, I'm so lucky to have him on my team.

He has treated me numerous times, even in an emergency situation. I was in very good hands with Dr Burdick
