I wouldn't be where I am without Dr.Cardelia and his staff

My then 14yo daughter, fractured her femur while playing soccer. She was first transported to another hospital where they medicated her, took an x-ray, and placed her in traction. We were then told she could not be treated there because of her age. She was transferred to CHKD. We met with Dr Cardelia, who performed her surgery. He is very professional and always takes the time to talk to my daughter and answer her questions with respect. His bedside manner has always been pleasant and never rushed. I would highly recommend him.

When I first met him, I did think he was kind of arrogant but as a long time patient of his I got to see a side of him that a lot of people haven't seen before. He has been with me through this whole process. He stopped by to see me in the hospital before he left for vacation and he when I had to go to Manhattan, NY, he came along to support me. To me, that shows his compassion for his patients and to be honest, I think he is the best pediatric orthopedic surgeon in VA.

This guy was rude, condescending and extremely late. He even had the nerve to turn away from me while I was talking to him and then look back at me and say "What were you saying?" I would NEVER see the doc again or trust him with the care of my daughter.

After months of physical therapy under the care of another orthopedic, I was referred to Dr. Cardelia for a second opinion. My 10 year old son's knee pain had been preventing him from the normal activities of a 10 year old. Dr. Cardelia made his diagnosis by telling my son to walk to the end of the hallway, and then to run back, and squat. He never looked at the MRI and quickly looked over notes from my son's other doctor. His response was "I don't know. I am not sure the pain he is having is real pain, if you get my drift". Basically, he accused my child of faking the pain. To make matters worse, he did this in front of my child. Completely unprofessional! As it turns out, my son hasn't been faking at all. The Virginia Institute for Sports Medicine in Va Beach has found the cause of the knee pain and is making effort to get my 10 year old back to living a normal life!

Dr. Cardelia and his staff are awesome. We saw him and his staff so many times while my daughter was treated with the Ponseti method. My daughter is now 3 1/2 and her feet are almost perfect. Her condition was severe on both feet. Dr. Cardelia and his assistant Loren are tops. I can't put into words how grateful I am to Dr. Cardelia for his expertise, care and results.

Dr. Cardelia is an extremely skilled, professional, and knowledgeable physician. He was very kind to my daughter, and I highly recommend him or any of his associates.
