Dr. James Arthur Champoux, MD

I saw him for an IME appointment. He totally ignored the MRI and x-rays provided to him showing my injuries and I feel he had already decided that I was not hurt before he even saw me. Not everyone who has an injury on the job is out to milk the system. All I wanted was to have my surgery and get better and back to work. Thanks to him and his recomendation, my case was closed and I now have to try to get medical help from my own insurance even though I was hurt at work.

I have recently injured my knee and was looking-up Dr. Champoux's contact information to make an appointment when I came across a couple of negative reviews which, based on our family's prior experience, surprised me. Several years ago, my daughter who was then 13, suffered, what Dr. Champoux correctly diagnosed as a "Greenstick Fracture" of her leg. As he explained, it was tricky because the fracture was in the growth plate just above the ankle and the bone was soft (hence the term greenstick) and didn't snap cleanly. He thoroughly explained two options - one involving surgery and one careful casting. We chose the casting option, which Dr. Champoux performed perfectly. My daughter has since participated in multiple sports including soccer and triathlons with no ill effects.

I recently saw this provider for an IME before even asking the first 5 questions he says and I quote 'Oh since you've not been working you're fine' Umm no that's why I was there! He didn't listen to anything I said. His mind was made up before he saw me. He seemed irritated my chart was not sent to him. Which is NOT my fault or responsibility. He was rude, and condescending. Obviously he's paid well by the company's that hire him. He's not honest. I hope I never have to see him again. Of course the IME results were in the favor of the employer, but it was obvious that was to be the result before I was even seen Ive had 4 other IME and none of them was I treated with such disrespect. If you have a choice don't see this provider.

I saw Dr. Champoux over a period of 20 years, mostly with regard to a damaged knee. He was always kind, patient, and caring. In 2005 he finally replaced my knee when I was ready to proceed. He never pushed me until I was ready and gently helped me pursue all other option until it was time. I was 57 at the time and it was the best decision I ever made. The outcome has been outstanding and I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Champoux. We followed up with a removal of scar tissue in 2008, which improved my range of motion. After that I moved from the Seattle area and have not been back since. If I needed him I would travel to see him in a heartbeat.

Dr. Champoux has his own agenda, he does not listen, and he does not honestly diagnose and report the medical needs of patients needing care and rehabilitation.
