Do NOT and I repeat, do NOT go to Dr. Choo! I wish I had seen these reviews before I saw him! The worst experience of my life! He wouldn’t even meet with me until he put me to sleep 3 times and did an ablation on the right side of my neck. He never once put his hands on me to examine me, but was more than happy to schedule me for a procedure every other week for 3 months…WITHOUT diagnosing me with chronic pain! I was told to just take Tylenol. When I questioned his money making tactics? He refused to speak to me. All I got was a letter stating I no longer would be a candidate for his care!!!! Unbelievable!!!!! He doesn’t care about YOU. He cares about MONEY!! I don’t know how he got good reviews here. Look at the Google reviews!!

I have been a patient for 4 years. Today I was treated for an unrelated issue. As always very satisfied. His practice has only gotten better. His staff is phenomenal. They are very professional, courteous and kind.

All this doctor & nursing staff care about is NOT prescribing opiates. Now, I do agree that most treatments should be utilized prior to starting opiod therapy. However, I came to this clinic after another Knoxville State licensed Pain Clinic (meaning neither were pill mills but were sanctioned by the State of Tennessee) shut down out of the blue leaving approximately 1800 chronic pain patients, cancer patients & terminally ill patients without continuation of care! I’ve seen him ONE time in 2 years. I had to do occupational therapy & I am on Federal Disability. AND you have to do whatever they recommend or no opiates for you. They put me on a very low dose, approximately 1\5 of what I was on. Now mind you, I have TWO INCURABLE & progressive diseases. No cure & they will get worse. But they refuse to increase dosages & if you tell them that what you’re taking isn’t helping, they threaten to take you off what you are on. They are definitely knee-deep in this fake “opiod crisis.” They… believe in positivity & all that crap to cure your pain. Now, I will say, the rest of their staff, I.e. appointments, therapy, UA, etc. are very nice & pleasant individuals. Even the doctor & nurses are “pleasant” enough, it’s just their way or the highway! No discussion!

I have been in severe pain for 5 1/2 years. I’ve had a botched back surgery from a Chattanooga Doctor. I contracted two separate diseases while having my first surgery at a Chattanooga hospital. I’ve been on pain management for about 4 years. Heavy doses of opiates for about 4 years. I’ve taken physical therapy on three different occasions during the 5 1/2 years of enduring this horrific pain! I’ve been on a walker and in and out of several hospitals and wheel chairs. I could bearly walk. I was ordered by my Spinal Surgeon to see Dr. James Choo and see if he could help me by doing a SCS spinal cord stimulator trial. I agreed to trying it sense the Epidurals and steroid shots were not working plus the fact my Spinal Surgeon was out of answers for me! I also had severe scaring on my S1 and S2 nerves. Basically there was nothing more my doctor could do for me! I desperately wanted to get off the pain medication. So I did the trial, it was miracle come true! In just 7 days my back hurt no… longer and I could walk and didn’t have to have my wife dress me or put my socks and shoes on me. The trial was 100% successful. Then after a few weeks had passed my pain and nerves got increasingly worse. The day of my implant I was wheel chair ridden to and from the operating room. I was hurting severely after the surgery and awoke the next morning and could walk normally and the pain had subsided to nearly nonexistent. My wife was joyous for me! Everyday since has been an improvement in my health and way of life due to the SCS implant! The staff were Great and very professional in the service to me! We got to know each other by a first name basis. Plus the ease of being able to relate to Dr. Choo and him explaining everything in detail made this most rememberable experience I’ve ever had in my lifetime! This was my last resort medically speaking. I could and would highly recommend the SCS to anyone that this has been prescribed to. It’s the best thing since Momas homemade apple pie!

Dr Choo made me wait for over a hour and then would not help me. If I didn't drive 40 minutes one way three times a week, he would do nothing for me. Would NEVER advise anyone to use him!

I have been seeing Dr Choo for 10 years for pain management. Medication is down on the list of treatment options and the Pain Consultants of East Tennessee utilizes everything from epidurals and nerve ablation to occupational therapy and physical therapy to more aggressive approach with refferals to a neurosurgeon and an orthopedic surgeon. Being able to experience a better quality of life and be more active has kept me going and away from the depression of loosing the ability to do everything I was used to doing. PCET is definitely NOT a “pill mill” !

He act like that are not nothing to you. You do not have shot and net better with your back

My experience has been excellent with Dr. Choo and his office. The staff is friendly and caring as well as Dr. Choo. I had a series of shots in my back that have made a difference in my life. As Dr. Choo said "no one should have to stay in pain". I am scheduling the same series for my neck pain as my back pain has subsided. If you are in pain, this is the place to go.

Every aspect of PCT is top notch and professional. Dr. Choo defines professional and caring. The staff members of PCT are polite, caring and reflect the man they work and the environment he has created. This medical practice is NOT a fly by night pain management facility. You will be cared for to the utmost, but if your looking for a quick fix (and I mean this as just looking to get scripts) your looking at the wrong place. The staffs concern from Doctor, Psychologist, to supporting staff will be looking out for your short term and long term needs with great care and concern.
