Dr. James L Cole, MD

I saw him in Opelousas when an ambulance took me to the hospital, I remember nothing about going there but he and 3 other Dr.'s came to my room and talked to my husband and me and they couldn't find any where in my glands to do a test. I was given blood and platelets and we made an appointment to see Dr. Cole the next week. Before I could make the appointment, my glands in my swelled past my chin. My husband got me into the car and started for Lafayette, on the way he phoned Dr. Cole and he said he'd meet us at the hospital. I don't remember anything other than the phone call and I was unconscious or delirious for about 3 weeks. My husband stayed in the hospital with me 24/7. Our daughters came to the hospital so he could go to their house, take a shower, and get clean clothes. They would also come so he could eat but most of the time the aids brought him trays of food. the last two weeks I was awake sometimes but my memory was bad. He came to the hospital every morning to… check on me. I then went to rehab for 6 weeks. The Dr. Cole started me on a light chemo treatment every six months for 2 years (once a week for 1 month). He has been really kind to me, has a wonderful bedside manner and my daughters and husband love him as much as I do. I thank God for Dr. Cole

Dr. Cole spent a majority of his time pacifying and no time spent on diagnoses. He assumes you know what he is talking about and does not explain the treatment or the cause to you. His bedside manner is borderline hostile. He does not do the basic blood testing he is required to do. He does not return calls. He basically does not do his job. He let my mother die of phenomena while he was on vacation. He did not do his job and should be held accountable for it. Not one time did he explain my mothers cancer to her instead he told her that everything is fine and that her cancer was not aggressive. Two weeks later my mother died in a hospital from an infection that Dr. Cole and the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes did not diagnose. He did nothing but lie to her and now she is dead. I know of two people that have died while getting treatment from Dr. Cole. If you want to beat cancer you need to not go to this Doctor or any of the doctors associated with Our Lady of Lourdes. On top of that he… practices as an oncologist when in fact he is a hematologist. This is not a doctor to hire. If you want to get your monies worth I would suggest you not put it in this man or his associated team members.

Dr. Cole has treated me for VonWillebrand disease for years and, in the last year, for Anemia. Having an in-office lab for onsight CBC results and great office personnel save me much precious time in the plan of care of my blood problems. I even have a choice to go to the Lafayette office or to my hometown office in Opelousas for appointments that are most convenient for me. Dr. Cole and his staff are very patient, caring and encouraging which, when I am ill, is a SUPER plus! I definitely recommend Dr. Cole and his staff in the care of loved ones.
