Dr. James Francis Connor, MD

Dr. Connor took care of my young son for an arm injury. My wife and I are both surgeons so we have knowledge of healthcare. We chose Dr. Connor because he is the best - a superstar person and superstar surgeon. He is kind, caring, compassionate, well-trained, and experienced.

Old fashion medicine at its best. Caring, calm informed.

I recommend staying away from Dr. Connor, especially for RSIs. I was referred to him by my primary care provider because I was having wrist pain due to repetitive strain issues, and not only was he unhelpful but his treatment actually caused me harm. He prescribed physical therapy strengthening exercises for my injured wrists, which I now know are generally not advised for overuse injuries. When that didn't work, I returned to him, and he performed x-rays, then referred me to an Endocrinologist, claiming that the x-ray results indicated low bone density. I am a healthy 26-year-old aside from my injury, so this was surprising. When my primary care physician saw the diagnosis she vetoed it and said I need to see a different doctor, because to her the x-rays looked entirely normal. Dr. Connor wasted my time, prescribed strengthening exercises that if anything made my injury worse, and contributed to my wrist issues becoming chronic. I also always found that I left his… office still having questions--even though he wasn't busy, every time I visited, after I asked him a question or two, he would start to gather his things and stand up, as if he wanted me to leave his office as quickly as possible. I was only asking in basic questions about my injury, the specifics of the treatment he prescribed, and my prognosis ( hence the one star for spends time with me ).

His surgery was excellent, as was surgery for my son.

I broke my wrist badly in NY state on a Sunday night. I called the office in MA on Mon. AM, got an appt for Tues and had surgery on Fri. Dr. Connor explained that I could opt either for surgery or a hard cast with no surgery and we discussed the pros and cons of both. He answered my questions and explained things clearly. I would have no problem recommending him.

I am NOT A COMPLAINER. I am NOT A SISSY, when it comes to pain. I went to see him with very bad "electric" pain and swelling in both wrists. He turned all lights off in the room, grabbed a small flash light, shone it through the outer side of my wrists and declared "There is swelling". (DUH !) He ordered X-Rays which (quoting him) "showed nothing because only bones show on X-Rays". Recommended I wear braces, 2 wks on and 1 wk off. If not better, I should come back and see him.

I had a fine opinion of Dr Connor at first. But I needed him to fill out a form for my job, so I could get some necessary ergonomic equipment. Without it I am in pain because of my condition. Dr. Connor flat out refused to do the paperwork. He had no good reason other than laziness. This is indicative of an indifference toward patient well being. I have never heard of a doctor refusing to help like this. Avoid him.
