About Dr. Cooper
Dr. James M. Cooper earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Detroit and has been practicing dentistry in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan since 1984. Dr. Cooper’s training and certificates apply to all aspects of dentistry. He regularly attends postgraduate courses throughout the United States to stay educated on the latest techniques and procedures.  In February 2011, Dr. Cooper gave an implant case presentation entitled "Use of CT To Avoid Learning Curve Pitfalls" at the ICOI Winter Implant Symposium in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Over 2000 dental professionals from around the world were in attendance. 
Dr. Cooper's "Peer Review Mediation Template" debuted at the Michigan Dental Association's Annual Session in April 2011.  The Peer Review techniques developed by Dr. Cooper have guided Detroit District Dentists in resolving disputes between patients, dentists, and third parties for many years.  This important contribution to professional dental …governance was incorporated into the standard training literature for all Michigan Peer Review Comittees in 2011.

Dr. Cooper was selected in 2009, 2010, and 2011 by a vote of his peers to be included in HourDetroit Magazine's  list of Top Dentists.  Styeline Magazine also honored Dr. Cooper in 2011 with a similiar Top Dentists designation.
Dr. Cooper is the Past President of The Rotary Club of Grosse Pointe Sunrise, which performs charitable works on a local, national and international level.  He is also a member of the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce, and Mack Ave. Business Association.
In 1999, Dr. Cooper was elected as a Trustee to the Grosse Pointe Shores Village Council and in 2002, became Council President. In April 2009, Dr. Cooper was elected as Grosse Pointe Shores first Mayor when the Village became Michigan’s newest city.
The League of Women Voters in 2002 honored Dr. Cooper for his “Outstanding and Dedicated Service” to the community and the Metro East Chamber of Commerce in 2006 named him "Business Person of the Year".  In 2009, Dr. Cooper was recognized for his "Community Service and Support" by the Grosse Pointe Lions Club.
Dr. Cooper and his wife, Daria, married in 1982 and have four children. They both serve on multiple committees at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and  volunteer at various Grosse Pointe Shores municipal functions.
