Dr. Deer is a brand new doctor. He has been indoctrinated by medical school and does not think outside the box. He scoffs at natural remedies and natural thyroid. He took over patients at St. Joe's for Dr. Laura Knecht after she unexpectedly changed jobs while on her maternity leave. She does not take my insurance now. She left many pituitary patients without an experienced specialist. My health has suffered. My labs have plummeted and Dr. Deer didn't want to order new labs for a year! Why did my labs drop? He doesn't care to redo for possible lab error, nor does he care that I feel very sick. He doesn't care, people! And, neither does his office staff-horrible, rude people who should not be in the medical field if they really don't care about patients getting better. In my opinion, Dr. Deer does not understand the thyroid or pituitary, nor does he care if you're sick and can't work. That's your problem, not his. My advise to other patients: Don't go here!! Please try… to find a good endocrine doctor, but it's going to be difficult. Most endocrine doctors really don't understand the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands (although they should...)
