Dr. James Guido Distefano, MD

I first met Dr. Distefano when I tore my left rotator cuff in an accident and found out I needed surgery. I am a percussionist, so not being able to fully recover was not an option. Dr. Distefano did an excellent job with the surgery. My girlfriend told me that after the surgery he really took the time to answer a lot of questions. He also answered all my questions in the follow-up appointments (and I came in to each appointment with a list). The experience was so positive that when it turned out that I needed surgery to repair my right rotator cuff four years later, I made sure that he was the surgeon to do it. He did a great job with the second surgery as well. I have talked to a lot of people who have had rotator cuff surgeries and told me that I'm the first person they have heard of that said the surgeries have been successful. One key factor was having a great surgeon, but the other is that it takes a lot of dedication to physical therapy afterwards. If patients don't take the… time and make the effort to dedicate the months following surgery to do the physical therapy, they will not get full range of motion back. In my experience, Dr. Distefano is at the top of his field. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs surgery.
