Dr. James Rufus Dockery JR., MD

I have been using Dr. Jimmy Dockery since 1997, well over 21 years. He is a wonderful caring doctor. He has only had 2 nurses in that time period and I can say without a shadow of a doubt he is personable, professional and listens to your concerns. I have recommended several of my friends to him over the years and am certain they feel the same.

My GYN had stopped doing surgeries so he referred me to Dr. Dockery. I was having bladder issues, my Dr. felt I needed surgery. When I arrived at the office all was good until I went in his office. He entered the office saying that I was too young to being having the problem I was sent there for. While I was telling him what was going on he was starring out the windows and just didn't appear to care. Then when I went to the exam room I was told to undress fully. I was totally uncomfortable with that being that my Dr. had just done a full exam on me. After examining me he proceed to refer to me as " if you was my wife" 3 times. I didn't like that at all. He then told me I had a UTI and he was calling a script in. This was Thurs. script wasn't called in, office was closed on Fri, my Dr. office is closed in Fri. I ended up having to call my family Dr. to get script. I then made an appt with another GYN, who did several test and turns out I had 4 different problems that needed… repairing right away. Pro longing these problems could have caused major issues with my health. Stay away from this man.

I have been a patient since 2000, and he has been wonderful! He doesn't ever make me feel that he is in a hurry, and he doesn't mind answering questions. When I had a hysterectomy, he personally called me the evening before my surgery to see if I had any questions or concerns. His office staff is friendly and professional, and they are very quick to return phone calls or get me in when there is any kind of problem. I recommend Dr. Dockery to all my friends and family members!

I saw Dr Dockery for recurring pelvic pain. At first he was great and caring but after he couldnt seem to find and correct the problem I waz treated like a problem patient. He performed 3 surgeries on me and wanted to put me on Lupron against my wishes. He bullied me into doing it. I found out later he put in my chart that I was a drug seeker because I kept coming back to him complaining of pain. Lucky for me I saw pelvic Pain specialist in Birmingham Alabama who correctly diagnosed my pelvic pain as muscle and nerve related and I am now no longer in pain. Which means that all the surgeries and Lupron Dr Dockery bullied me into were completely unneccessary. And this "drug seeker" as he called me doesnt need or want pain medication. I control my problem with exercise. Stay away from this dr unless you only need the standard yearly check up. If you have any kind of problem that requires research or actual problem solving thinking he cant help you.

I have been using this doctor on and off. The only reason I chose another doctor was I have to drive an hour to see but am back again. He is the best in treating my problems where other physicians have not. He has performed two surgeries on me also. He is so nice and pleasant and I would recommend anyone to him.
