Dr. James R Doran, MD

I attended an appointment on behalf of my parents. I have struggled with chronic pain from disabilities for most of my life due to life threatening traumatic injuries, but Dr. Doran passive aggressively derided me about not being able to care for them when I told him I had to file probate for state conservatorship. I'm not sure why he tried to make me ashamed for my disabilities, but I feel sorry for his patients who lack a caring provider.

I had an appointment with Dr. Doran for an annual physical exam. Not only did his office double bill me for this 15 minute visit, the doctor provided little to no real feedback or recommendations during the visit. I had completed the patient information 2 weeks prior to this visit, and yet the visit only involved the doctor reading through the same list of questions and entering the information on the computer. I had two brief questions during this visit - apparently that resulted in the second bill. The visit still concluded in 15 minutes. While I understand the current medical insurance situation results in less patient care, this was extreme.

I have had a good experience with this dr i like that he was able to treat my diabetes better then a diabetes specialist he is a person who will not surgar coat things and thats a plus for me just want honesty and truth very confident and as it may seem to some patients as arrogant i find it to be more confident I have had good results and would highly recommend him to family and friends

I had been seeing Dr. Doran for two years. While he is very intelligent I found that each time I was in to see him, it was like he never met me before. Twice he had the wrong chart on the computer in front of him and started asking me if anything has changed since my last visit. Then he starts asking questions from the other person's chart. The topper was this past Friday when I had scheduled a recheck per discharge instructions because I have pneumonia. He comes in, goes to the computer and asks me how my Cravings and Withdrawal are!? I was shocked, still weak from pneumonia and asked him to repeat what he just asked me. He did and must have read my facial expression and realized he had the wrong patient in his computer!? His apology was meak and he continued on when he brought my chart up. He sent me home and said it is going to take a while to feel better. I went to my lung Doctor yesterday and I'm back on meds cause the first dose from hospital wasn't enough!? He doesn't like to be… told by patients if they have a medical condition (pre diabetes etc) because my first visit to him I told him I was told I have pre diabetes from my previous physician. He said, " No, you have diabetes". Next visit, of course he doesn't remember previous visit, he tells me I have "Pre Diabetes "!? It's too bad that such a smart Doctor doesn't have the bedside manner or memory that other Doctor's do because if he did, he would be great. I'm not sure about anyone else, but who wants to be called "Ma'am" when your doctor asks how are you doing!? I'm going back to my previous physician who had moved to another office two years ago and this office told me they had heard she was retiring when I had inquired about them taking new patients. She is still practicing and the extra miles will be worth it.

Doctor is Very rude and insensitive. Brushes off all your medical concerns. Doesn't treat patients properly and has no bedside manner. Does not trust patients word without justicble cause. Told me to take ibuprofen while I have an ulcer and I had to beg for help with my debilitating migraines, while my eye doctor sent me a referral to a headache specialist with no problem. After being stern he perscribes me medication for my migraines, when I go to the pharmacy I find out that medication is old and no longer used. Thanks a lot doran. He's made me cry several times, he's very mean.

Was seeing Doran for Suboxone treatment until he abruptly discharged me because my therapist Ive been seeing isn't on his list of counselors (45 min drives and $$$copays). I had maybe 2 months left of treatment and I would've been done. But he said my only option was to go inpatient. Careless and boldly insensitive

Dr. Moran gets to know all about you and your health. And what's more, is he remembers you and what you discussed on previous visits. He has a professional, yet very down-to-earth and personal, caring approach. Struck me that he'll looks straight in my eyes when talking to me, and keeps that eye contact when I am talking to him. He is very intelligent, refreshingly honest, doesn't pull punches on giving recommendations for improving health. I have only written one other doctor review ever - and that was to complain. But my experiences and appointments with Dr. Doran are so positive I had to write something this time. I highly, highly recommend him if you are looking for a GREAT PCP.
