Dr. James William Dwyer, MD

Dr. James W. Dwyer is an excellent, professional and extremely talented spine surgeon. He is brilliant and caring, as well as being greatly experienced. I am equally as pleased with his skillful staff members, JoAnne, Sandy and Sue. They are all very knowledgeable, and compassionate. I highly recommend Dr. Dwyer and his staff.

Full disclosure: my son was the patient. I watched my son suffer for 4 months with different levels of pain in his lower back. He was diagnosed with a herniated disk L5-S1 at another practice and was administered an injection. Things went from bad to worse very quickly when he sought help from Dr. Dwyer. Upon arrival to this amazing office, he was immediately taken to a room to lie down. He was in severe pain. Dr. Dwyer was amazing! He was kind and assuring as he methodically described the procedure to take place. He expedited the MRI and Xrays on site confirming exactly what he suspected. Surgery was performed 3 days later. His expertise along with his confident, and kind persona assured my son’s wife and me that he would be healed. I will recommend this practice and Dr. Dwyer to anyone with back issues! He gave my son his life back. I’ll never forget him or his lovely and talented staff!

For over 8 years Dr. Dwyer’s diagnosis, treatment and surgeries of my numerous spine issues have been second to none. He is a true master of his craft; with a re-assuring presence, calm demeanor, fantastic bedside manner and good humor. From a terrifying diagnosis of becoming a paraplegic I am walking again, due in no small part to Dr. Dwyer’s phenomenal surgical expertise. This man literally saved my life.

Wow! I've had many doctors before dr Dwyer and they don't even compare to the amount of skill he has! He is hard working, dedicated, educated, and most of all really cares about his patients. I HIGHLY recommend going to see dr. Dwyer if you are ever in need of medical assistance.

Dr Dwyer is one of those doctors that you hope to find when you have a serious problem that is life altering. He is very qualified as a board certified surgeon, however the thing that separates him from others at this level of expertise is his ability to listen well to his patients and respond their needs not his. Dr Dwyer will give you the patient every opportunity to follow a conservative course of treatment if that is what you desire. He does not rush you into surgery but when the time is appropriate to intervene his results are excellent. I have had a two level cervical fusion in 2001 with no complications and a lumbar fusion surgery this past June. I am excited to say that I AM ENJOYING AN ACTIVE LIFE ONCE AGAIN WITHOUT PAIN!

Tried PT Conservative treatment then oral steroids then followed by 3 epidural injections with very little improvement refused even to prescribe a muscle relaxer to ease spasms and pain and handed me off to out of area pain mgt. specialist who then was unavailable for month. Meanwhile, there is a top rated pain mgt physician in his practice satellite office hmmm makes sense as why him and his other spine surgeon partner are separated from practice main location...was disappointed with his excellent reputation...later found out he read through MRI so fast e missed important details nor did he ever obtain written MRi report...I then went top rated spine surgeon in NYC who is leader and international leader properly found pain repaired it 7 months later pain free
