Dr. James R Edgerton, MD

I would give NO stars if that rating were possible. Dr. Edgerton is not a nice person. In retrospect I wonder if the surgery he recommended and performed was even warranted. He took advantage of my vulnerability and attempted an inappropriate relationship. Basically there is something wrong with him....

I would rate this doctor as very poor based on previous care and treatment. The best word to describe him is incompetent. Do not trust this guy with your heart. He is bad news! I need additional treatment but would never consider going back to him. Avoid this doctor at all costs.

Based on my experience, I would STRONGLY advise against using this thoracic surgeon. There are many reasons not to such as his age, health (previous neck injury) temperament (rude and abrasive), demeanor (arrogant) and poor surgical skills.

I had a mini-maze procedure performed by this surgeon for my Atrial Fibrillation. It was a disaster! My condition went from occasional to permanent. He destroyed my quality of life.

My life has been a "living nightmare" since I had surgery performed by Dr. Edgerton. I have even considered suicide. Prior to the surgery, my a-fib was manageable. I had only occasional episodes, but opted for the surgery because I wanted to be cured and off meds. The surgery was a complete disaster! My episodes increased along with the symptoms. Stay away from this guy!!

Prior to surgery, I was in A-Fib 100% of the time and my HR was well above 130. My ejection fraction had fallen to 15... in a word I was a mess and in a downard spiral. No surgery is fun, and my mini-maze was every bit as bad as I thought it would be. Dr. Edgerton was there every day explaining very patiently what to expect and to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. For about three days, my heart remained pretty erratic both in rhythm and pace. On the 4th day it went into a normal sinus rhythm and the rate fell to below 80. According to my my implant there has been no re-occurance of the A-Fib to this day, and my EF has risen to 40 as my EP continues to remodel my heart.There is no doubt that Dr. Edgerton saved my life... zero, zip, and nada. I cannot comment on the 'failures' I see on some posting for Dr. Edgerton, but I can tell you what I know from personal experience. He is a man of expertise and integrity.

Don't be fooled by this surgeon's presentation skills when evaluating him. He is quite impressive, but his surgical skills leave a lot to be desired. I found out the hard way and paid a huge price. He performed a mini maze procedure on me and I never regained normal sinus rhythm. I am now in permanent atrial fibrillation. I would definitely not recommend him.

I had surgery done by this surgeon. It was a complete failure and damaged my heart. He has poor bedside manner and is mean spirited. No follow-up whatsoever. To him, you are just a number. He doesn't care. Look elsewhere.

Knowledgable, caring. Answered all questions. Staff very helpful in dealing with the insurance company.
