Dr. James Agnew Evans, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Evans’ during my inpatient stay at Emerson Hospital. All I’ll say is don’t expect anything more than superficial sympathy, understanding, and compassion from him. If that’s all you’ll need, then he’ll be great for you. But if your experience with mental illness/disorder is more complicated like mine, and if you just want to felt heard, not dismissed as crazy or “hyper-sensitive,” then steer clear of him. He quite literally can’t get you out the door quick enough.

Very disappointing to speak to this man when your loved one is at Emerson. I couldn't ask for a more arrogant and rude doctor. He is evasive when you ask a question, rushed when you are trying to get information and just plain rude. It is very clear he is uncaring and does not care about my loved one. He should be fired

If you are considering admitting yourself or a loved one to the psychiatric ward at Emerson Hospital, consider an alternative for anything beyond basic care. My loved one ended up in a state of catatonia shortly after being allowed to discharge himself/herself. My experience with Dr. James A Evans and some staff was unacceptable. I never quite understand why individuals pursue a career in health care when they clearly do not care.
