Dr. Fingleton is chief of cardiovascular surgery at Southcoast Health System. Before joining Southcoast, he was a cardiothoracic surgeon at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospitals, where he practiced for 20 years.

-Dr. Fingleton is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where he also completed an internship and residency in general surgery.

-He completed an additional residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit.

-He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at The Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

-Dr. Fingleton is board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery. His clinical interests include multiple arterial grafting, aortic aneurysm surgery and minimally invasive valve repair and replacement.

Dr. Fingleton performed an elective aortic valve replacement to remedy my severe regurgitation. All prep was spot on for max safety, full understanding of my condition and requirements for correct action. Staff was great. Full detailed explanation from doc and answered my many questions re possible scenarios. Total confidence in his professional skill & judgement. Followup was good and gives me confidence for my recovery and future good health. Warmest thanks to a fine surgeon!

Had emergency valve replacement. Never felt any pain. He talked to my primary Dr for an hour giving him all the details.

After asking doctors and medical people for their thoughts on who was the best hearth surgeon in ri and ma area one name always came up and that was doctor James fingleton.. Once meeting Dr. Fingleton I felt very comfortable with him. I had my surgery on Friday, came home on Tuesday, I can t say enough about him, his team and the staff at Charlton Hospital. I would recommend him to anyone having to go through Heart surgery.

I saw doctor Fingleton after I was told by another physician that I had an aortic anuerysm. He read all my reports and ct scans and gave me the best news ever. I do not have an anuerysm. He is a brilliant compassionate doctor.

Dr.Fingleton is committed to excellence.He has a hand picked OR team ,and a caring confidence instilling bedside manner. He makes frequent follow up visits, and is always available. He performs when possible minimally invasive procedures, allowing for a quicker recovery time .

Instills confidence, educates thoroughly ,performs minimally invasive procedure when possible for valve replacement.Appropriate attentive follow up visits while in hospital . Hand picked O.R.team . Only the best anesthetistand perfusionist will do for him and you.
