Dr. James Gesl completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY at Brockport in New York, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Gesl was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and completed a two-year internship with the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia. Dr. Gesl left the Navy in 1979 and opened his dental practice in Waldorf, Maryland, where he continues to practice general dentistry today.
Dr. Gesl belongs to the following professional organizations: the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, Patuxent Dental Society and the American Academy of Sports Dentistry. He is also an active member within the Charles County community. His volunteer activities …include Christmas in April, La Plata High School PTA, Waldorf Kiwanis, Head Coach La Plata High School Girls JV Basketball Team, youth soccer and baseball team coach, and Council President for Peace Lutheran Church. In 1992, Dr. Gesl was elected to the first of two terms on the Charles County Board of Education. During his last two years, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Education. Dr. Gesl continues to be a frequent participant in Charles County Public Schools during dental health month.
Dr. Gesl is the proud parent of two grown, married daughters. Both daughters and their husbands reside in the Southern Maryland area. Dr. Gesl has been married for 35 years and in his spare time enjoys traveling, golfing and cooking.
