Dr. James Russell Grua, MD

Dr. Grua has basically given me an incorrect medical record for all future providers to see. He has basically made me seem like I am healthy as a horse, I have nothing wrong with me, and I am just all in my own head. He told me, and I quote, 'This is a waste of time.' I had to explain to him, this is my body and my health, and something is wrong with me and I am NOT a waste of time. He was very rude in my documentation and also violated HIPPA laws by texting me very detailed information regarding my lab results. 3 weeks after him telling me I was a waste of time, I had a medical episode that ended me in the hospital, and with a neurologist. If he would have given some grace, compassion, and understanding, maybe he would have caught the medical episode before it took place. He is a TERRIBLE 'Doctor', and is far past his need for retirement.

If I could give zero stars I would. Dr. Grua himself is fine the one time we saw him, but his staff is THE WORST I have ever encountered in my entire life. After our initial new patient appointment, they just ghosted me. I have been calling and leaving messages for ELEVEN MONTHS with no call back. Seriously- that is not a joke or an exaggeration. Unfortunately for me, we live in a smaller community and Dr. Grua is the ONLY physician with the expertise to treat my son within several hundred miles of us (Dr. Grua travels here sometimes but his actual office is 300 miles away or else I would have just walked in myself to talk to somebody). So my poor son is growing older and is unable to receive the hormone therapy he desperately needs because Dr. Grua's staff CANNOT ANSWER THE PHONE OR RETURN VOICEMAILS. It is absolutely the most unprofessional and plain rude treatment I have ever encountered. I know I'm leaving messages on the correct line; they just ghosted me. Truly unbelievable.

I love Dr Grua he has helped me a lot for many years.

Called for an appointment after 2 months of jumping through hoops to secure a referral requested by his office I was refused an appointment. About the most rude and incompetent staff I’ve ever dealt with.

I was very disappointed with my visit. The Medical Assistance required me to come in before refilling my long standing prescription and claimed Dr. Grua required it. No informaiton was given to Dr. Grua and he appeared to have no idea why I was there even though it was his request. I had to catch him up on his request and why. It was inconvenient to come in this week based on short notice, but I was feeling miserable and quickly changed my schedule to come in hoping to look at my symptoms and look at possible causes. Ended up with an new prescription that wasn't working when we ended it several years ago that now costs $600. Fortunately I pushed for a lot of lab tests to help figure out what is going on -- that I had researched on the internet. Lots of complaining about the government and the medical record systems, and refusal to do anything outside of the narrow issue my lab test covered. Looking for a new Endcrinologist.

Not impressed. Didn't clarify anything to make me feel like a dummy for asking questions.

Dr. Grua was AWESOME. From the second I met him, he made me feel comfortable. He made me laugh and I was able to relax. He sat by my side and explained my condition in detail. He even drew a picture (upside down..pretty impressive) to show me the whole process of what was going on in my body. He didn't take the normal "physician" approach where they "tell you" what YOUR going to do. Instead, he gave me MY options and asked how he could partner with me on MY decision. I asked questions along the way and at the end, he asked if I had anymore. He spent a great deal of time with me or at least I think he did because he made me feel like I was his only patient and priority that day. The lady that I made my appointment through was also awesome. She answered my questions and listened. She helped calm my fears. I think her name was Chris. The lady that checked me in on my appt day however has a little opportunity with friendliness and making patients feel welcome. Don't like… going to the doctors office, but I will like seeing Dr. Grua again.

My first visit went fairly well. They said they would call with my test results after about a week. Three weeks later I called them. After being told all tests were normal, I asked about one that seemed low. I had researched it extensively. The person then looked it up, agreed it was low and told me to get an over the counter steroid and the dose. No other information followed and no follow-up offered. Since the endocrine system is very complex, it seemed to me that follow-up was in order. I no longer trust this doctor and will not be back.

Poorest bedside manner, had to call several times for test results, not prompt or caring. So curious why his online reviews are so positive? After having such a bad experience with Dr. Grua myself, I am learning that many women I know have had similar poor experiences with him. Don't waste time, energy, and money here.

I have a low functioning pituitary gland. I went to many doctors to find out the problem, however it was finally Doctor Grua that gave me the diagnosis. He spent time discussing the options for treatment and has shown much concern for my health. He has given my life back. Of all of the doctors whom I have seen, he is at the top of my list for caring, bedside manner, proper diagnosis, and a happy friendly patient rapport. Thank you Doctor Grua!
