Dr. James Holt Grubbs, MD

This review comes about 7yrs after the fact. My child had been in & out of mental health facilities & was heavily medicated by other providers which was only making her worse! Her last visit though, she was lucky to have Dr. Grubbs making rounds. He called me to ask, why is she on all of this medication & is it helping? I told him it was not working & only making her worse. He said, I want to take her off everything except an as needed sleep med & evaluate her for ADHD & I said YES! Dr. Grubbs saved her life! That was her last time in a facility, 7 years ago & she is still doing amazing! You are a HERO, Dr. Grubbs & I am forever grateful to you for saving my daughters life!

Unfortunately his bedside manner does not match his level of intellect. Very disappointed in how he treated my wife and child today. Traffic issues caused my family to be 10 minutes late and he wouldn’t even give five minutes of his time to speak with our eight-year-old child—this was our 2nd appointment. Was told he treated my wife like a little girl (she’s 40) and “mansplained” that he was sorry but didn’t feel like using the remaining time to chat with our son. I’ve known my wife for many 15-years and haven’t seen her cry this much—with the exception of losing family members. But if you’re in the market for a doctor in Austin that lacks respect for clients, is not aware of Austin’s traffic volatility and treats women as subordinates; you’re in luck—he’s a doozy.
