Dr. James Samuel Habib, MD

My mom had a general doc when I took over I made sure she had a geriatric doctor. Found Dr Habib. First visit he found mom has issues with her teeth that was an unknown issue for years. He stated we need to address this. Then he always shakes out hands and asks her if she has fallen. Then he knows he enough to talk over threw her in the room and to me since she gets confused and will forget. Mom think still shes knows everything yet confused on everything. Always asks us about refilling meds. Visited her often when in the hostpial. Kinda of rare nowadays. Staff says that is his thing. Never even told him of the visit. Only reason he is not 5 stars is that he is hard to reach via phone. I know he is busy and all that but end of day he suspose to return calls. Sometimes he does. Then if he does he is short and likes to basically end the call "bye bye now". I have called to try to get referrals. Can't always see him in person just to get a referral for another issue when you just… saw him recently. First off to the person with the 1 star you need to be present in the room you can't do proxy via telphone question and answers. Do that with a job interview. I tried having people take my mom but they never really know whats going on or can get in the doctors face so to speak. Hate to say it but no excuse for not taking your parent in person once every so often. He has Saturday hours even. Find another family member to help. Offer them a few bucks for lunch and gas ect. Don't blame the doctor for your issues.

an extremely thorough and compassionate doctor... I cannot say enough about the ease of making an appt. as well as the quality care that I ALWAYS receive from Dr. Habib and his staff.

As I think about what was most memorable to me I'm reminded of how my mother on every occasion of visiting this individual received the absolute WORST customer service from this guy. As a daughter responsible for my mother's care I conducted serious research and did comparisons of credentials and it seemed that mr. Habib was the best choice in my search for a geriatric physician however in hindsight it seems that he was really the only choice for a geriatric physician in our local area. This unfortunately did not fair well for my mother and our family. He rarely provided her a thorough exam, he may have spent 10 min max in the room with her and even then he outwardly expressed no genuine interest and while I was not physically present during her visits I participated via phone each time, in hearing her reason for being there. I would ask questions seeking understanding, directions and next steps but to no avail in fact I knew less after his short spell with her than I did before she… arrived to his office. The medical personnel at my mother's assisted living facility was shunned by him and or his office on most every attempt to contact him for refills or referrals. Here's what I know for sure, those who have or have had him as their doctor (pains me to refer to him as such) you know exactly what I am describing and I encourage you not to feel trapped by family members or insurance, hmo, Medicare or Medicaid, you only have one life to live so please do not waste precious time in the presence of an individual so ungrateful and obviously unhappy and/or unfulfilled because it will continue to manifest via the service (or lack thereof) that he is supposedly providing.
