Dr. James Patrick Haley, MD

I initially had a very positive first appointment with Dr. Haley and left feeling hopeful that I had finally found a doctor who could help me with hormone therapy. He explained that his approach sometimes involves using higher hormone levels to improve symptoms. My concern was that he did not seem interested in routinely monitoring my hormone levels with blood work. This was particularly important to me because I had experienced serious problems with hormone therapy in the past, including significant thickening of my uterine lining that required a surgical procedure and additional treatment. Because of that history, I wanted to closely monitor both my hormone levels and uterine lining. I ultimately had another healthcare provider order those tests for me. Unfortunately, my second appointment with Dr. Haley was completely different from the first. I came prepared with several legitimate health questions, including questions about test results from another gynecologist I see once a… year for a specific procedure. Dr. Haley seemed irritated that I had seen another doctor and told me that because he had not ordered the test, he did not want to discuss the results. I also had questions about supplements I was taking and brought them with me so that I could get his medical opinion. As I continued asking questions, I felt that he became increasingly frustrated with me for being proactive and involved in my own healthcare. The appointment became very uncomfortable, and toward the end he told me that I was "too much" and left the room appearing frustrated. That comment was extremely upsetting. I believe patients should be able to ask reasonable questions and advocate for themselves without being made to feel like a burden. Given my previous complications with hormone therapy, I also personally need a physician who is willing to closely monitor how my body is responding to treatment. I am now looking for another provider who will listen to my concerns, appropriately monitor my treatment, and make me feel comfortable asking questions. Based on my personal experience, I would not return to Dr. Haley.

Excellent doctor and was recommended to me by a Northside hospital nurse that knew first hand of his surgical skills. He is very knowledgeable and knew exactly how to take care of me, even though I had a complex medical history. He was also good at explaining everything thoroughly. Surgery went well and the healing process was much better than expected. I highly recommend him.

I feel bad for people who get this doctor. He is inconsiderate and ignores questions (or he has no clue how to answer and ignores you). He also tried to force my wife to have a c-section for no reason at 36 weeks. He was very rude and aggressive when we told him no. Beware of this doctor!

I gave Dr. Haley a poor review & it's interesting that most everything I am seeing is such a glowing report of their experiences w/ him. I have NO idea why Dr. Haley treated me so badly, but he truly was uncaring, unresponsive & treated me terribly. He did do my surgery, had 2 wk post surgery check-up & he more or less sent me out of the door? My health issues continue, but I am sure that is of no concern to Dr. Haley!

He's an excellent surgeon, highly skilled and knowledgeable. I've been seeing him for years and he's hands down the best OB/GYN around. I highly recommend!

I love Dr. Haley! Hands down best surgeon around and has always been very patient with me. I have had multiple issues over the years, and he has givem excellent care. I recently had surgery and not only did it go perfectly smooth, I healed faster than I thought I would.

I had multiple issues, seen many doctors, no one had any answers. Dr Haley listened, for a really long time, called my prior doctors, operated on me, and now I'm doing fantastic. He's the greatest. I cannot say enough good things about him. Best GYN surgeon around, hands down.

I like most of the providers at Cherokee Women's Health. However, Dr. Haley is the least personable and never talks to you about your check-up. YOU have to be the one to ask if you want any information about how things are/went.
