Dr Hammel is awesome! Heard things about our child's condition that we'd never heard from any other Dr in the last nine years. Very thorough explanation. Should see my kid 5 days after surgery. I'm blown away! No way to describe our thanks!

You cannot ask for a better pediatric heart surgeon. He is cautious, meticulous, and brilliant. He is a perfectionist in every aspect of his job. This is the man you want operating on your child if you are ever in need. He saved my baby's life at just 7-days.

Dr Hammel is operating on my daughter, who has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, and I wouldn't take another surgeon even if he lost her on the table and I could go back and pick someone else. He's very thorough and patient in explaining everything to us as parents, and we're already past the norwood surgery, the one one with the highest mortality rate already. Tomorrow he is doing the Glenn on Everly, and we're both very anxious but we are very confident in his capabilities and expertise in surgery.

Dr. Hammel did our son's erterial switch to fix his TGA at 13 days old. After opening his heart, Dr. Hammel discovered abnormal coronary branching. He had never seen coronaries like our son's but he STILL figured out a way to make it work! I am truly amyzed at how committed he is to every patient. I've heard that he even takes trips to other countries to help save kids who would otherwise not survive. It takes a crazy amount of courage, dedication, precision, and passion to do what he does. His record and reputation speak for themselves. There are so many moms like me who are STILL moms because of Dr. Hammel. He saved our son's life and we will be forever grateful!

It has taken me awhile to be able to find a website to thank Dr. Hammel for all he has done for our Medical Miracle. Our daughter, Lorelei, has had a total of 4 heart surgeries and Dr. Hammel has performed all of them. He is a hero in our eyes and has given us a chance to know and love our little Miracle! You are truly remarkable and we thank you! Anyone would be lucky and blessed to have such an amazing surgeon!

Dr. Hammel recently repaired a hole in my 22mo old son's heart. Not only did he take his time explaining the procedure, the risks, and addressing my questions and concerns, he did it in a manner easy for me to understand. He also shows a great deal of care for his patients and visits them routinely after surgery. His incision was small and done in a manner that minimized scarring. To the person that gave the negative review - I read your review before making the decision to have my son treated. I'm really sorry for your loss, it must be hard, but I have to disagree on your opinion of Dr. Hammel. He may not be capable of saving everybody (who is?) but that doesn't mean he shoud be discredited or have his surgical capabilities questioned. Overall, I think Dr. Hammel is a wonderful surgeon and I would recommend him to anybody.

Dr. Hammel performed a PDA surgery on our 3 month premature baby boy. The result was amazing - virtually no blood was lost, the pda was closed, and our little boy is back on the road to recovery. The surgery took very little time and we thank him greatly for his help.

Dr. Hammel is very caring and took time to answer all questions, even if he had somewhere to be.
