Dr. James F Hanus, DO

Dr. Hanus is the most compassionate and knowledgeable doctor I have ever went to. I don't understand what is going on right now, but if his practice ever reopens, I'll be the first in line to see him.

I hope Dr.Hanus does not return to practicing medicine! I have seen so many of his patients prescribed high doses of narcotics and various other controlled substances. I strongly believe he was the "candy Doctor" and clients would seek him out to fulfill their addictive drug problems

Time and time I hear from others who share my own experience with Dr. Hanus. He has a true gift. Some sort of prodigy with a devine gift from God.

Dr. Hanus authorized a diagnostic -- even though I was under fifty and had no history of breast cancer -- because I felt I needed one after finding a lump. Not only did he get me an appointment the day after calling him, but he also stayed after hours to meet with me and my friends. I met him two days after he got the test results -- breast cancer. When I met with him, he told me "you are not leaving this office until we select a surgeon for you AND I will call them first thing in the morning." Because of Dr. Hanus, I was able to have surgery for stage III breast cancer 2 weeks after diagnosis. I have no doubt in my mind that he extended, if not saved, my life.

Dr. hanus is a dr for many of my family and friends. We all believe and trust in him. He is extremely caring and does what he can to help anyone. I would highly recommend him and have done so to others. He truly cares about his patients.

I have had several visits where he was helpful, insightful and friendly. And then, I have had a couple visits where he seemed upset, even angry, venting some of his frustration on me. He does not seem to be emotionally stable. I would like to find a different, more professional doctor!

Completely unprofessional. I was assigned this doctor through my insurance. When I called to make an appointment the receptionist was unprofessional and unresponsive to the request of two ER doctors that I needed to be seen immediately because I nearly had a heart attack. None of this information was provided to the doctor. Additionally, they took no information from me as regards to the role he would play in my treatment as I have 5 specialists who handle nearly all my care. I was told I would not be accepted simply because I was too sick and had too many chronic illnesses. I take no narcotics for my migraines but again the receptionist attempted to state that an anxiety medication from my psychiatrist was a narcotic (it isnt by its very definition.) Narcotics dont work for migraines day to day and if this doctor is doing so it should be investigated. The receptionist took over a day to address my heart issue and the ER doctor told me if we didnt think I could get in the next morning… I should have been kept in the hospital. The willful ignorance of the "gatekeeper" could have cost me my life or caused grave disability. She directly slandered my over the phone, which has been recorded. Extremely shady and dangerous business practices. If I had not cut off the receptionist I feel that I would have continued to be slandered further. The worst of it is that she was wholly ignorant of anything medical and was clearly not a nurse. Let us hope for everyone's sake that when I go into the hospital today that nothing happened to my heart from their negligence. Do not attempt to go here even if your insurance assigns you to this doctor. I cannot in any way recommend a practice in which the first person you talk to commits a civil criminal act and lets you wait around to die of a heart attack. This is not a doctors office in any sense of the word.

He is down to earth, explains what procedures or tests that he is doing. In 2000 he saved my life! I am a 48 yr old female that had to leave his practice because of moving out of state. I'm back in In and he is my family physician once again. I could not be any happier. Love u Dr.Hanus
