Dr. James S. Harrop, MD

Hello, my name is Diana, Last year i had a fusion to my C3-C7 which did fix me. I was falling everyday. I am still feeling in both of my feet severe numbness and a stinging sensation in my buttock. I have heard nothing, But Positive remarks about Dr., Harrop. I was greeted by his nurse practitioner Jennifer Malone, she was so thorough she listened and discussed my issues with the Dr. and for the first time when I walked out of their office I felt as though they were both so educated and are going to be able to help me with my discomfort step by step. I was in the office for a lengthy time checking everything. I cannot thank them enough. I cried when i got in my car because they understood what I am going through

I had two spine fusions, S1/L5, and L2/L3, plus failed Nevro trial, and I am still in severe Pain. I am looking for another doctor who will find out where my pain is coming from. I was told to see a hip doctor and saw 3 doctors who said I have a back problem. I have difficulty walking,sleeping, and on narcotics for PAIN. GOOD LUCK!

Precisely what I needed. An MD who cared and listened and was right!

I’ve seen countless Docs (unfortunately due to chronic Neuro/spinal issues) I’ve NEVER, Not once had a Doc say on first meeting me “ I’m sorry for all you’ve been through & are going through, you poor young woman” I was floored! That small sentence made me feel like Dr. Harrop actually cared, and I could tell he meant it! I proceeded to have surgery and he continued to show this compassion. He helped me as much as he could, and continues to treat me. His team are all really smart. Remember it’s a teaching Hosp. So you will be examined a lot ( sometimes the same reflex exams) especially if you have surgery. This is a good thing. Dr. Harrop is absolutely brilliant. He sometimes has trouble focusing, like most brilliant people his thoughts are going fast. Make sure to ask him direct questions and he will answer them. My advice though is to be patient waiting for your appointment, because he’s so good, he’s in high demand. I usually see him at the Navy yard office and it’s always busy.… Clear your day calendar and expect this. I highly recommend him, and pray he can always be my Doctor.

Dr Harrop and his staff were extremely caring and sympathetic to my pain and worked with Jefferson pain management Dr Wang to define my problems. During this pre operative period Dr Harrop kept a close eye on my needs. Once the tests showed my problems he wasted no time meeting with myself and wife to discuss what would be best for me. I am one week post operative and am can honestly say JIM and everyone involved saved and restored me to a pain free life. During my first visit I will be discussing how to remain this way and apply the Harrop principals to my life. To everyone involved Thank you. Ken W.

I’ve never had a Doctor who is so skilled and nice to me at the same time! He took really good care of me during my surgery (Posterior Cervical Fusion) and after. He actually cares how I’m doing. This is a rare combination to find in a Doctor. He’s all around a good person. I highly recommend him.

Had lower back fusion with hardware and screws two years ago. Had me walking the same day after surgery without pain. Was discharged the next day after being in pain for over 10 years he literally gave my life back to me. Excellent surgeon, second too none. Thanks doc.

I have been seeing Dr. Harrop since I broke my neck in 2007 & was brought in to Jeff's ER. I was soo lucky that Dr. Harrop was there. He he operated on my neck & in 2012, my back. My ex SIL goes to him & I have recommended friends who now love him. He has a quirky bedside manner which puts you at ease, & he listens to you. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

Dr Harrop answered all my questions and was very honest with the possible outcome of my surgery. He was cheerful and pleasant.

In 2008 Dr James Harrop and Associates performed surgery on my neck, which had extensive damage from a fall off a roof. C4/C5 were floating in my neck and all ligaments/tendons were tore in the back of my neck and on top of the damage I had a dental infection in my neck from a cracked jaw bone. The surgery was a success and I am alive today to talk about it. I wish I would have commented back in 2008 when he did the surgery. Dr Harrop and his staff, as well as the entire staff of Jefferson Hospital are true Professionals and some of the greatest people I know.
