Dr. James Wesley Heroman, MD

I had a tear on my left eye retina and needed to get a laser treatment and was referred to Dr. Heroman. During the procedure and right afterwards, he never explained anything that I need to watch out for, any potential risks, or symptoms I could experience. All he told me was I would expect a little bit redness on my eye and I should be okay after a few hours and able to wear contacts the next day. However, after I was home and the numbing medicine wore off, I started to feel bad headache, nerve-ache in my left part of brain, and I could barely open my left eye and it was FULL OF blood. The next morning I woke up, still feeling the same - pain, swollen, and the eye was full of blood, I also started to feel nausea and tasted some numbing medicine which also caused me to some mild cough. I was horrified and called Dr. Heroman and he simply told me this happens, and there was nothing to worry. I then waited for one more day and persisted to send him a couple pictures and he called back… letting me know this is all cosmetic and should go away in a week or so and offered to see me again. So I went in, and described all the symptoms and he told me that this is a very rare case I was experiencing - maybe one in a million. I challenged him are you sure this was one in a million, then he changed and said maybe one in a thousand. He should no sympathy to the symptoms that I am experiencing and told me my fear and emotions played more factor into this. After telling him that one of my friends had similar procedure done in another practice and the doctor offered eye-drops to help with inflammation and pain and whether I could get that, he then agreed to prescribe me the eye-drop. I asked him what could cause this extreme awfulness of the swollen eye, pain, and filled with blood - at first he kept saying this is rare case, and after I challenged him, he finally said it would be when he gave me numbing shot and touched my blood vessel to cause this. I know things happen with such procedures, but at least Dr. Heroman should have prepared his patients well enough on all risks, possibilities, and any instructions on what to do or expect if things happen - this should be basic things to do as a doctor. Even with a flu shot, we get a sheet with what to expect and instructions. I am also not confident about his skills and experience in what he specializes with due to this experience and would recommend anyone how is going to seek procedure with this Dr. Wes Heroman to think twice.

Having ruptured my left retina due to a fall I was very pleased with the treatment Dr Heroman gave me during 6 months under his care. I would recommend him to any one have eye problems.

Great staff and he's very to the point and excellent at answering my questions. Surgery went wonderful and no surprises. Very happy with the results !
