Dr. James White Jackson, MD

After reading the other reviews I must say my review is somewhat different. I have been going to Shelbyville Road location for a while. I seen Dr. Jackson for my 1st appointment & he does every one of my injections so I see & speak with him briefly then. He is always very friendly & doesn't mind answering any questions I have. He is very knowledgeable on where these injections go and he is very helpful on trying to find you some relief. I highly recommend him for that. On my follow up appointments they stay busy! You have to get drug tested and then I follow up with Billie to go over any other questions/concerns I may have. She is also very knowledgeable & if she doesn't know she finds out & follows up/through with you.

Problem with being able TO write a message

My wife and I both were referred to Dr. Jackson, and the only time we saw him was our initial visit, which was brief. Follow-up appointments were scheduled with NPs. We prefer to see the doctors, at least ever other time...we just do not put faith in seeing NPs when we have a medical problem. One NP was asking questions, and while we were trying to remember certain things, she simply turned and walked out, and closed the door. What an insult, trying to answer her questions and then having her walk out because we did not have the answers on the tip of our tongues. My last visit, a couple of weeks ago, had a long session with one of the NPs, and included a urine test. She told me that I tested positive for flomax, not only this time but last time as well, and questioned me about it. I was not familiar with flomax and could not explain it. I later looked it up on the internet and found that it was related to tamsulosin, which was on my medicine list on their file and which was… prescribed by my Urologist at least ten to fifteen years ago for prostate reasons. She should have known the relationship of the tamsulosin with floxmax, and I would question what this has to do with pain management. We tried over and over to call the office to obtain our records, as we do not plan to go back to his office, but trying to get through is an almost impossible, if not impossible, thing to do with the extremely long message and many options to listen to and try to connect with.

I was a patient of Dr. James Jackson Jr. for two years and I only saw him on the first visit only. Though I asked to see him again instead of one of his nurse practitioners I was always denied. I even asked in a letter. Not only was he not compassionate nor caring, he was a bully. He denied me Trigger Point Shots though earlier in my records he reported that they worked for me. I have Multiple Sclerosis and have had two cervical fusions that did not help my pain. Due to the pain I live an isolated poor quality of life. Not only did he not take care of me my medical records were filled with inaccuracies and missing information when I requested them. I lead a better quality of life under the care of my new doctor.

My doctor was shutting down so I was sent to this doctor. Upon ariving he wanted my whole life history and wanted to go into depths of why I use a catheter. I went to him because he is a pain Doctor not because he is a urologist after the extensive history he had me take a Urine screen and he told me I tested positive for meth. I have never in my life used meth ever. I asked him if any of the prescriptions I have taken could cause a false positive and he said no. Not at all but after reading I found that the Sudafed I took could absolutely cause a false positive. As a pain management doctor he should have known that. They took a blood draw that proves that I had not taken meth but still he won't remove the red flag off my records so I still have not been able to receive my prescription. So it will take me a few months to find a doctor and I am without meds that I need to have any quality of life. I need meds to be able to take care of my family. Please choose another doctor and… don't take Sudafed before an appointment. It's sad that the people who really need pain management are paying for others mistakes. This doctor loops us all in to one category.

One star deduction for the know it all nurse who does the history and vitals before the Dr. Comes in.... I think she's new.... Otherwise the rest of the staff is great, along with Dr Jackson, and Nick Mullins, the RN who usually sees me.

Poor patient service - does not listen to patient issues - only saw him on 1st visit - now see his male nurse - who is just as bad...maybe worse.

Rude staff at COMMONWEALTH PAIN ASSC. Never saw Dr.Jackson after first visit.Complete waste of time and money.The whole experience was VERY unprofessional down to their billing department.Pill pushers.Thats all he is.
