Dr James Lawrence Jeakle, MD

I like Dr. Jeakle and his staff. Everyone is very knowledgeable and helpful. I had went elsewhere during my first pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. With this pregnancy I chose to see Dr. Jeakle. His office got me in early because of my previous history. My first ultrasound was at 6 weeks, 6 days. After speaking with him at that appointment I found out that the other office should have done certain exams that never happened. He explained everything that he was going to do throughout my visit. Sometimes he does get behind, but its normally because he has other mother's in labor, which I try to be understanding about because when it's my turn I would hope for much of the same. His office has been available to answer questions, and he and his staff are highly experienced and knowledgeable. I have recommended him to many of my friends.

Dr. Jeakle was my doctor at the beginning of my pregnancy, but after my first exam with him I switched. He was incredibly rough with the exam and didn't seem to care that he was hurting me with the transvaginal ultrasound wand. The way he was moving it was careless and very jerky. I knew then that I couldn't have him as my doctor. Not only this caused my decision to switch, but he was also very brusque and seemed not to care about me as a patient in general. Then, around five months into my pregnancy, I had a kidney stone. I originally thought I was going into early labor and rushed to the hospital. He was the only doctor present at the time of night that we arrived and, without asking or telling me why, he began a pelvic exam. He didn't put enough lubrication on the speculum and began forcing it into me, causing me immense pain on top of the pain I was already going through in my kidney. I began crying and backing up the hospital bed, but he kept trying to force the overly large,… nearly dry speculum into my vagina. The nurse at my bedside held my hand while I cried (she looked incredibly concerned, herself, about the treatment I was receiving) and Dr. Jeakle ordered, "You need to relax your muscles or I can't do this. Relax your muscles," in a harsh tone, as if I was causing him an inconvenience. I couldn't believe it. After the pelvic exam was over and Dr. Jeakle had left the room, I went to the bathroom to cry and wipe myself off because his exam had caused me to bleed vaginally. The nurse, whose name I wish I could remember, came to me and apologized for what happened and gave me something for the pain I was experiencing. She was so kind to me and I could tell she felt horribly about Dr. Jeakle's treatment of me. This sort of treatment from doctors is not a rarity, and it happens more regularly than we think. I know so many women who have been mistreated by their doctors during pregnancy, and I feel that it's important that we speak out about the bad treatment we are given by these people. I wasn't going to leave a review about this doctor. I thought it would be best if I kept this to myself, but I can't. If my experience helps another woman avoid going through something similar, I will tell my story as many times as necessary.

The staff and nurses were incredibly warm, thorough and took as much time to listen and understand my situation and emotional anxiety about the visit. Dr. Jeanie cracked bad jokes and was in and out and forgot to send in my script. Despite the assistant warning him about my triggers and sexual history, his comments were off and bedside manner terrible. I will go to the planned parenthood where I hear the lady staff there is great.

hardly seen him through out my pregnancy, its always a nurse. When he does come in its very quick and have no time to ask my questions, I always end up asking the nurse. Staff is friendly but I will not be returning to see him after this pregnancy for future ones. Very rough when doing procedures unlike the nurses. Highly unsatisfied with him but the staff is great.

Professional. Nice but to the point. Would highly recommend. My first pregnancy turned high risk when I went into delivery and Dr. Jeakle helped us through this emotional time and brought our son into this world safely.
