very good doctor/helped me through tough time

After hip replacemtn surgery, I disloacted my right hip. Dr. Kessler was exceptional in manner and treatment. I highly recomend him.

Severed a tendon in my hand on a Sunday afternoon. The surgical referral (from the ER) was unable to even see me for 5-7 days. I called Dr. Kessler and was seen immediately (on a holiday no less) & he did the surgery the next day. He was thorough, took time to listen and was willing to work with my special medical issues. I found Dr. Kessler and his staff to be prompt, courteous, professional and non-judgmental. I was treated with respect and would recommend this surgeon to anyone.

I went to see Dr. Kessler as directed from the E.R. at Angel Hospital. Dr. Kessler did not go over my x-rays w/ me. The E.R. @ Angel prescribed me (Narco 5/350) which did very little for my pain. Dr. Kessler came into my room, told me he didn't see anything to indicate a new fracture. However when he saw the "softball" size of the hand / wrist area he then said i could have a hairline fracture. I told him my pain level was 8 on a 1-10 scale. As i requested something / anything a bit stronger because the (hand-specialist) had not set a date to see me & his nurse told me it could take a few weeks! He declined & sent me out the door with a prescription (same strength) & a wrist splint. I have not been able to sleep in 3 days now! I've wrapped it in "ice" & "elevated" it as instructed. Pain-level an easy (9), throbbing & purple & yellow in color. "Softball is still present! I called back Dr.Kesslers office & asked if i could see the hand specialist sooner & or for an increase / different… pain medication to which he caringless denied & i was told "You'll just have to wait for the "hand-specialist" to call. It is now thursday soo i'm thinking i won't be seen by another Dr. until at least next week! He didn't check for "nerve / tendon" damage at all! I also am on "medicaid". So that might have been a problem for him. Patient care does not seem to be much of a concern here. Not all patients are seeking pain meds for a buzz Doc! Some patients are truely in need for emmediate care/treatment! Some people abuse there meds however most are NOT! He seems very uninterested in the possibilty of nerve/tendon damage. I was just a number to him i feel. A fracture is a fracture, but real insurance & medicaid are much different...all i can say at this point is i'm in "very much pain" & "cha-ching"$$$. Good luck future patients. Take a stand for "YOUR HEALTH" & if you currently have medicaid; well re-read this post!

This doctor is a proffesional. He tells you the problem, the choices you have for treatment and his recommendation. He is very good at asking questions to determine your activity level and what treatment would be the best for you. I recommend him highly.

While Dr Kessler may not have a warm bed-side manner, I do not see him to make me feel warm and fuzzy. I see him to take care of what ails me. I'll go to someone else for my personal woes.
