Dr. James Leon Khatcheressian, MD

Dr Khatcheressian is a wonderful doctor. I have stage four esophageal cancer and he has been treating me for 2.5 years. His goal for me was to extend my life with a good quality of life. He has accomplished that. I have not had chemo for over one year and feel really well.

I will always be grateful for Dr. K, he was my mother's hematologist and then oncologist when he found a mass that other doctors didn't find for over a year. Dr. K is the most caring doctor I've ever dealt with. He never gave up on treating my mother, always looking for something else to try. He will always have a special place in my heart and I will never forget him. God definitely gave him the gift of what a doctor should be!

Dr. Khateressian is extraordinary in ALL categories. thank you for asking. He is compassionate and caring and the best doctor, especially in his field.

Dr "K" is a very caring person (human being), he understands human frailty/ fears and that when we come to him we are afraid and overwhelmed. He doesn't treat you like you are on an assembly line and that you are there to be rushed along so that he can get on to the next patient. I like that he is warm and caring. He talks to you and asks questions, and makes me feel my questions are always valid.

I was skeptical about seeing dr. Khatcheressian, because I thought my oncologist at UVA just couldn't be beat. When Dr.K as I find it easier to call him came in, he put me at ease, was very knowledgeable about my type of cancer, explained things to me in a way that I could completely understand. When I explained my problem with my former doctor, he seemed like he truly cared, and agreed to take my case. I turned seeing several doctors into one with Dr.K and finally I'm getting treated like a person, not some type of pain junkie. I would highly recommend seeing him if nothing else just a consult, you would be surprised what a wonderful man this Dr. truly is.
