Dr. James Alan Knol, MD

This man saved my life with his expertise of my liver surgery. He worked with the Mayo clinic to be sure I would get the surgery and care I needed. I trusted this man with my life and would do so again.

As an attending in charge over residents, an attitude starts from the top and works its way down. His attitude and bedside manner is disgusting and it shows because his team of residents that are below him act in the same way. He cares more about covering his residents jobs than owning up to a problem in which I went in for a simple surgery and ended up bleeding out over half of my blood volume. When the issue was found, he ignored it all day and then in the middle of the night came to save his resident by stitching up the hole carelessly left in surgery. He barged into my room accusing me of things I had never done in front of my family members and when addressed and found of wrongful accusation he was arrogant beyond all get out. I would never recommend this doctor. I dont care how small of big a surgery is, my life was on the line over a small surgery and his carelessness and mean demeanor is not the way you treat people. Never ever would I go here ever again.

I'm pretty sure Dr Knol saved my life. A previous stomach surgery had left me malnourished and unable to pass food through my stomach to intestines. He is an excellent surgeon...tends to be blunt, but tells it like it is....which is a good thing. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Knol is a caring, considerate individual. I have dealt with him for 13 years. I owe my life to this man. I would recommend him to anyone who has gastrointestional issues.

Surgery was done by green resident. Caused permanent spinal nerve damage. Knol in denial about problems afterward. I am not a picky person and have enormous respect for other doscs I've seen over many years. This was a nightmarish experience.Stay away.
