Dr. James David Kocjancic, DO

This doctor exemplifies the art of healthcare. I would highly recommend him on all levels.

I know everybody is freaking out about Covid-19. Me too. I wore three masks and went to the ER to be tested even though I didn't have any symptoms. Dr. Kocjancic was my doctor and he was great. He wore gloves and a mask the whole time which meant a lot to me. After an exam and talking to him, I left the ER feeling much better. I didn't get tested, but learned from Dr. Kocjancic what symptoms to look for. I'm glad he was my doctor!

One heck of a doctor and human. I've never been treated better.

So, let me start by saying I don't write reviews. However, I was treated by Dr. Kocjancic a few nights ago for flu symptoms. It was extremely busy and initially I was placed in a hallway. Several times, this good-looking (as my daughters agreed) man walked by and smiled at us. The third time, he stopped to ask if I needed some blankets and if my one standing daughter needed a chair. He then went and found my daughter a chair and brought me two warm blankets. About a half hour later, I was placed in a room and who walks in soon after but "Dr. Jim." The respect and compassion and concise care he provided me was just amazing. Both our nurse and the tech, when we shared our happiness with him, said he was the absolute best and "all the patients loved him." The only negative from that night--finding out Dr. Jim doesn't have his own practice. Thank you, UPMC-Hamot and Dr. Jim!

Just was in the UPMC-Hamot ER yesterday with our sick child. Despite a two-hour wait in the waiting room, it was worth every minute to get a doctor like Dr. Kocjancic, "Dr. Jim". From introducing himself to my husband and I, to his questions and patience with me over-talking, to his expert exam of my sick son, to his explanation of everything, and especially for his demeanor and compassion and ease with my son and us (he imitated a cow and made my son smile!), I can only say that we will probably never meet such an amazing doctor like him again. UPMC-Hamot is lucky to have him. And my son is doing great today!

Goes through the motions of appearing sincere, but when it comes down to it, he's egotistical and let's it interfere with his patient's care. I do not believe the overjoyed reviews written about him on here. The only explanation would be he discriminates.

I recently took my elderly mother into the UPMC Hamot ER. We were placed in a hallway bed due to how busy the ER was. Dr. Kocjancic walked by us several times and smiled and even stopped once to ask if we needed anything while we waited for a room. After a room emptied near us, the family walked out saying their doctor was the best they ever had. It was Dr. Kocjancic. After we got placed in the room, sure enough, Dr. Kocjancic came in to treat my mother. He was everything one would hope their doctor to be. He introduced himself not only to my mother but to me as well! He was thorough in his questions and exam. He explained all the tests he planned on ordering and then their results a bit later. Through this, he stopped in twice to make sure my mother was doing okay and to see if we needed anything. After we decided a plan of treatment, we were discharged with very well-explained instructions. I have never experienced a doctor like Dr. Kocjancic before. If only he had his own practice!

My son was taken to the ER at the end of summer for alcohol and drug use. His behavior was embarrassing and he was berating everyone, including some wonderful nurses. When Doctor Jim (he introduced himself as this) walked in the room, the complete energy of the room changed. Clearly, he had the respect of his nurses and helpers. He spoke respectfully but firmly to my son, treated him with needed medications, and ordered tests to make sure my son would be safe (he even explained all the tests to us!). From first walking into the room, I would never have dreamed to have the great outcome we did. Thank you, Doctor Jim, for taking control and providing excellent care!

I have been to Dr. Kocjancic's ER before and not taken seriously. He changed my opinion of his ER and restored my faith that there are still great doctors out there.

Dr. Kojancic is a class-act! I usually go to St. Vincents but went to Hamot because it was the closer Emergency Room when I had a serious problem. Dr. Kojancic and his nurses far exceeded any care I have gotten in my life, ever! Go there and ask for him!
