Dr. James Calvin Larocque, MD

Dr. LaRoque is straight up. He doesn't sugar coat anything. He has loads of experience. He tells me each visit to lose weight, eat smaller quantities, cut the carbs and so I will be healthier and he can lower my medicine. I use to say geesh those charts of height and weight are from the 40's. I have come to realize he pushes me hard cause he cares. His office staff is amazing.

I highly recommend Dr. Laroque. He is very through and precive. He is very personable as is his staff.

Dr LaRocque is very knowledgeable and thorough. I highly recommend him.

Meds prescribed/changed, 3 months later blood test done, 3 months later blood test read and meds updated, repeat. Serious lag times.

This doc thinks outside the box, he is very quiet, but very experienced in my opinion....The wait time is a bit long due to the amount of patients, but this should tell you that he does spend time with the patients and I do not mind this, unlike many other endos I have seen! Dr. Laroque helped me with my issues and listened and offered explanations to the best of his knowledge...I travel 45 min just to see him ..Also understand he has a huge practice and this tells me that he is at the top of his field!

After being diagnosed and treated by my primary care with hypothyroidism, I decided I needed to see a specialist as I was still feeling tired all the time. I saw Dr. LaRocque three different times. Each time the wait was over 2 hours. On my final visit, after going into detail with him about how bad I was still feeling, he said he was going to keep my prescription exactly the same. At that point, I asked him if I could try the Armour natural thyroid. He said "yes" and told me that "actually most of my patient's do better on the natural thyroid." Of course, I wondered why he didn't prescribe it if his patient's did better on it. At any rate, I had the prescription filled and started taking it. Within about a week, I started feeling very edgy and nervous. Then I started having heart palpitations and sweating. At one point, I felt so sure I was having a heart attack my husband drove me to the hospital. Everything checked out fine and they sent me home. The next day I felt so… bad he took me to an urgent care. There, the doctor suggested it could be my thyroid medication. Turns out when Dr. LaRocque converted my dosage from the Synthroid to the Armour, he made a mistake and more than doubled the dosage I had previously been taking! I called his office and told them what happened and asked that he give me a call. He never bothered to call, and I never bothered to go back. My advice? Find another physician that actually cares.

He may be brusque but he was NEVER rude. He took me seriously and now I am healthy enough to work (after 10 years of being too weak to work). I trust him and his Nurse Practitioner, Suzanne Nickel.

After the rudeness and impersonal treatment I received on the phone, I'm quite apprehensive about my "New Patient" appointment. If my referring physician hadn't set this up already, I'd bail, for sure. Phone manners are important, people.

This office is NEVER on time. I always wait an hour or more every time I have an appointment. The last time I was there, I had an appointment at 9:15am. Of course they want you to get there 15 minutes early even though they're never on time. At 10:00 I still hadn't been seen and was told that the Dr. hadn't even shown up to the office yet! I couldn't believe how inconsiderate that was. I commute 40 minutes to the office and have to set up child care while at my appointment and this was completely unprofessional. I can deal with the Dr.'s lack of eye contact and bedside manner, but I put a lot of effort into making my appointments: I just wish the Dr. and staff respected that.

This has to be one of the most unorganized offices I've ever been too. I was having an issue with my thyroid, I had left several messages for a nurse to call me back, it took 2 weeks before the called me back. Once you arrive you will usually wait anywhere from 30mins-2 hours. I've seen 2 of his staff members get into a disagreement in front of customers. Very Unprofessional. I will never go back!
