Dr. James Mark Leipzig

My husband endured a very positive pre and post surgery experience. Dr. Leipzig has much confidence, passion and skill who validated my husband's pain, listened to his problems and treated him with the utmost professional courtesy and knowledge resulting in the pain relief we had been looking for and the opportunity to enjoy life once again. We are grateful to Dr. Leipzig and his entire medical team.

He's the only one for me ! Truly a doctor that wants to see his patient recover and get to live a life without so much pain !

I went in with a crushed c5-c6. Dr. Leipzig explained everything in detail including the few options I had. He got me into surgery very quickly and fused the c5-c6 with a modern implant. He literally saved my life as the pain was so debilitating I could not function. I was in tremendous pain prior to surgery and came out with minor nerve damage that was left over from prior to surgery. But I have been able to resume my normal athletic life. It's been 5 years since surgery and I still owe a great deal of gratitude to him for what he did for me.

Dr. Leipzig is wonderful.

I have had to have 4 cervical fusions operations, 3 of the 4 Dr. Leipzig performed. If I would have gone to him for the third one, I would not have my 4th surgery. I went to another local surgeon on the advise of my PCP and the fusion did not take. I went to see Dr. Leipzig, he looked at my MRI and records. Explained everything that would need to be done, got it scheduled, and now I am on my way to recovery. Dr. Leipzig takes the time with you, explains everything and does not treat you like a number. He has a great staff that will go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable.

How could anyone rate this physician at less than 4 stars? Certainly not me. He is a life saver, literally. He labored over me in the operating room for two plus hours performing the most delicate spinal surgery imaginable. As a patient he keeps you fully informed as to the nature of the procedure, the risks involved and the post operation physical therapy options available that may help restore some of the functions diminished by the injury you have sustained. He wisely makes no guarantees because not all patients are motivated or physically able to undertake physical therapy. So if a patient falls into that category one should not expect miracles to happen. For my money (Medicare's actually) he's the best.

I agree with 'just stop'. If Dr. Leipzig, or any surgeon, doesn't want to operate on you because of being overweight and smoking, he is doing you a favor. I know it's hard to lose weight and quit smoking, been there. I use to work in health care and until you see how smokers (especially heavy smokers) don't heal as well, sometimes fighting infection for a long time, it may be hard to understand. It's hard to watch someone fight to get better for so long or sometimes not at all. Dr. Leipzig explained to my husband very well why he didn't want to operate on him at this point (he is a smoker and overweight). He is sending him for other treatment until he can lose some weight and quit smoking. I told my husband this would probably be the case before we went to the appointment because any GOOD surgeon will not put you under general anesthesia with these factors at play. Yes, he has a reputation to uphold, but he really isn't discriminating against anyone. He does care about his… patients. I'm glad he wouldn't operate on my husband at this point. Dr. Leipzig is a great surgeon with a great bedside manner.

Dr. Leipzig operated on me a year ago. I must say he is very caring and truly wants a good outcome for his patients. He is conscientious and competent. I have recommended him to several friends as I have total confidence in him and would certainly see him sgain should the need arise.
