Dr. James M Lopes, MD

Several weeks ago while putting on my bathing suit, I noticed a plum-size lump below my belly button. My internist said it was a hernia and recommended I see Dr. Lopes, a general surgeon. I googled him, read various doctor rating sites and watched his intro video on the Summit health site My appointment was in a few days in Berkeley Heights. When I arrived for the appointment I barely waited in the waiting room long enough to complete the forms. Dr. Lopes examination was thorough . He provides a name for the hernia I had. He called up images on his computer and explained them to me in a very clear, thoroughly and friendly manner. Luckily no treatment was needed. He said there’s any pain I should contact him. what a way to start 2021- emergency surgery. but the only good thing was that dr james was there to make sure that i can see the rest of 2021. he is caring and showed me images of my problem and how he was going to fix it. i was a nervous wreck and he calmed me down. 10stars!

Saved my life during COVID crisis and kept my family at ease- they were not able to come inside hospital. I needed emergency surgery during covid- but Dr Lopes was there (mask on) and provided great care and was able to keep my family updated daily. He even provided FaceTime in my room until i can get my phone. Thank you so much!

I read the reviews here- he does listen and is pleasant doctor. Surgery was successful and I couldn't be happier! I was lucky to have found him, hope this helps someone make the right choice also!
