Dr. James Aloysius Manning, MD

Maybe Dr. Manning is knowledgeable but his miserable attitude overshadows that. He has the absolute worst bedside manner in a doctor I’ve ever experienced to a point I was shaken up after I saw him for a bad ear infection. I couldn’t open my mouth when he asked me to so he held me by the throat (still checking the neck/lymph nodes maybe?) to get a good hold of my face and stuck his fingers into my mouth. He was dismissive of my health problems and just plain rude. I refuse to ever be seen by this doctor again.

I arrived for my appointment early as instructed. I waited for 30 minutes and when I asked about it they told me he was running behind. After 45 mins I was finally taken to a room. I waited a total of 1 hour and 15 mins before I was seen. Was told there was an emergency and Dr. Manning was on call. I was very frustrated that they could not bother to call me and reschedule. I understand emergencies happen, but my time is valuable too. After waiting, Dr. manning was a true disappointment. I have a small scratch on the inside of my nose that was not healing. He looked at me and said this injury is really only seen in patients with cocaine habits. When I expressed my disgust in his comment he continued to make accusations while telling me he was just giving me the facts. Then, he told me he was going to look at the back of my throat, I opened and he started spraying my throat with numbing spray with NO WARNING. Then I sat so long that it wore off by the time he was ready to put… the scope down my throat. The whole time he was rude and never even explained the whole picture, like the fact that I had a badly deviated septum that could be causing my sinus issues. I had to see it in the paperwork printed when I checked out. After seeing another ENT- I discovered the lesion in my nose was caused by using my nasal spray incorrectly and over using it. Also how I learned my deviated septum is causing a majority of my sinus issues. Dr. Manning wasted my time and money. While I did find him to be knowledgeable, his interactions with patients was so deplorable I found myself canceling appointments and ultimately decided I was better off starting over.

Rude...that's the best description I can give. Absolutely NO bedside manner.
