Salem Family Medicine is a JOKE! You go for an annual physical. You discuss nothing new. You ask for a prescription refill, that’s listed on your chart, for a health issue you’ve had for years no changes in strength or kind (not a new drug for a new health issue) and they charge you for a separate office visit.

Went to see him for the first time to discuss anxiety and I felt like I was on trial. I felt judged, made to feel like I was less than and a liar. I felt worse than when I went in. Cried all day. Will never see this man again!

Dr. Manning presents results and treatment options in a common-sense and practical manner. Spends as much time with you as needed.

One of the few doctors I've seen that takes a little extra time, digs to find the real problem and actually asks questions first. Very exceptional.

The woman who felt like a lab rate and gained 70 pounds - that is sad - but I'm betting there's more to the story. Dr. Manning was very concerned about side effects during my treatment and very up front in discussing them.

Dr Manning used me as one of his bipolar lab rats in 2000 in Memphis,TN. I gained 70 pounds in one year from the medication. My self esteem/worth plummeted. The depression and isolation became unbearable. I tried to contact Dr Manning in North Carolina in 2008 after locating him online. I begged for his help. He wouldn't respond or even acknowledge me. I spent 12 years as a virtual hermit in a depressive world I never knew existed. To see all the "bipolar research accomplishments " makes me absolutely disgusted. He forgets to mention all the "uh-oh's" and the "woopsie's" he left behind to get where he is. May God bestow him the same suffering he so flippantly created for others.

The doctor is decent in knowledge and generally OK, but their staff are the worst I have ever seen - some very unprofessional and lack of responsibilities. The referral staff never has communications with patients about the referral status and follow-up, making the referral a very bad experience and long treatment delays. Don't go to this office until they re-trained their staff.

He goes by Sloan Manning, btw, Exceptional general practitioner with extensive knowledge of mental health issues. First Dr. I've gone to that actually took the time to properly diagnose. Also nice that he isn't pushy or judgmental. Was referred by a friend, and even though his office is way out of my way, I can't see changing doctors ever again.
