Dr. James Vincent Maturo JR., MD

I have had numerous visits with Dr. Maturo over the past 6 years. As long as your labs are good he makes absolutely no changes to your medications. Be it your insulin or your blood pressure medicine. I was making my own adjustments to my insulin to keep my blood sugars in control and maintained an A1C of 5.6 to 5.8. I ran into problems and asked for his help. He said I was testing my blood sugars too much and providing way to much information for him to comprehend. He picked a few days said I needed to change my basal rates to just two per day instead of the way it was originally set up and to just check my blood sugar at breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime. I did as he advised and went from a blood sugar of 132 at breakfast to a blood sugar at lunch 1:00 pm of 52. I told him I tested every two hours because I cannot tell when my blood sugar is high or low. He reiterated again I was testing too much and there was too much information for him to make changes, do what I say… and call in your blood sugars in a few days. If I continue on this way someone will be calling 911 because I am unresponsive. He is supposed to be an Internal Medicine doctor, but does not seem to know how to adjust insulin in a pump, eventhough he says he knows how to handle it. I guess I need to find another doctor because he does not know how to be a doctor outside of the 15 minutes that you are assigned in the appointment time frame. Any other doctor would have asked to review the logs and contact back after he was able to review. Not Dr, Maturo he needs to make a decision right then and there and the appointment was for high blood sugars, he did not even do an exam to see if there was something medically happening to cause high blood sugar readings. This is not normal.

Dr Maturo is excellent. If he doesn't know what is wrong....HE WILL FIND OUT!
