Dr. James Robert Mclaughlin, DO

The doc will not provide treatment, nor will he allow you to continue your existing treatment through other providers while he sends you on a battery of tests, repeats them, and blames the patient if the radiologist doesn’t do the proper imaging, then cancels your appointment. You can go through every medication known to medicine, even resort to excruciating procedures that worsen your condition, and this doc will not phone in a basic steroid that’s proven to provide relief. My migraines are blinding, and his treatment is neglectful at best, bordering on criminal. Do not recommend.

I've been dealing with horrible head and spine pain for some time; I have a disorder called Chiari Malformation and syringomeylia; decompression surgery many years ago. I have had headaches most of my life everyday, but in the last year the pain has intensified. I also wake up not feeling my hands or my feet. This is very scary. I had to wait almost 3 months to get into to see Dr. McLaughlin. Once I did, he ordered many tests, which was a relief, but then I waited another 6 weeks and had not heard back from him until I called twice trying to get answers. I was able to see my results on the patient portal and it revealed that I have herniated discs in my thoracic and cervical spine, as well as degenerative disc disease, bone spurs. Regardless of what the results revealed, I'm a patient in major pain and I never received a phone call back to discuss my results; no follow up appointment was made until 6 months later. My life has been put on hold, because I don't know what will hurt me… or what won't. Finally, the office called after I demanded answers and the doctor ordered an anti-depressant medicine; without sitting down and discussing the decision to give me this medicine I was under the impression this doctor now thinks I'm crazy....Seriously, this is the most frustrating thing to be dismissed by someone who you give all your trust to. I can't begin to tell you how disgusted I am with the health care system these days. I know this doctor is very busy, but then maybe he should not take on so many patients. If you are considering seeing this doctor, make sure you don't have anything seriously wrong or are willing to wait forever to get answers and then hopefully not die or get worse while waiting.

I observed him for a clinical rotation and he is an absolutely intelligent man and truly cares about his patients. What an absolute please to observe him working with patients.

He's great at tweaking your meds. to get them to be just where you need them.

Personable .Seems to care about what's going on with the patient .Explained issues to me and gave me time to question him.Did not make me feel like I was taking up his time.

I've been seeing Dr. McLaughlin on and off for 17 years after he correctly diagnosed and treated me for MS. His bedside manner is excellent. He takes the necessary time to explain problems and treatments, and to comfort when the news isn't good. His staff is the most caring, friendly, and helpful of that of any of my physicians. I hope to be Dr. McLaughlin's patient for many years to come.
