Dr. James P Mcmurrer, MD

I really hope that he is not still practicing. Under his care our son became worse and worse Until he finally told us we needed to put him in a residential home in Utah (?!?). When we would not heed his advice, he fired us as clients, thank God! We found a new doctor who put him on the right meds and basically saved his life.

i pulled my child out of his practice. he hated Dr. McMurrer. He did not object to getting up on Saturday to see someone else. I found him watching me from his window. Strange man.

I went to Dr. Mcmurrer for nearly 10 years and had a positive experience up until this past year. Every time I saw him he would ask about my professional interests. One day I told him my GRE scores for graduate applications and he replies “I don’t mean to hurt your feelings but I don’t think you have the intellectual capacity to become a ______.” Uncalled for and so insulting. Not to mention none of his business. It is not your job as a doctor is to give your opinion on a patient’s career goals - but if you do, for God’s sake, say it more professionally and kindly. I’m glad you didn’t say this to me when I was 15 and vulnerable. You can ruin someone’s life when you say things like that. As a professional, especially as a psychiatrist , you should never take away someone’s dignity and stopping them from pursuing their goals. You are a psychiatrist and your job is to help people move forward, not back.

Dr. Mcmurrer is a wonderful doctor. He spends a lot of time with his patients getting to know them to help to treat them. He is sensitive to their individual needs. He is also very good at the pharmacological component of treatment. I suffered from severe depression and concern that I would not ever be well again. He helped me when I was younger to fully recover and I have normal life, went on to marry, have a child and hold a good career. I have never suffered any relapse. I am very appreciative of his care. He is excellent. He has a quiet and conservative approach, which was what I needed and responded well to. Thank you Doc!

Arrogant, unprofessional dangerous weirdo.

Dr McMurrer is an excellent Doctor. He helped me fully recover after some severe situational depression I suffered from in college. He holds the course, is professional, reliable and follows up. Serious illness does not deter him. He is smart and a great clinician. His quiet style and respectful manner helps the patient work through their problems. He made me well , high functioning and I am forever grateful. Thank you Dr McMurrer.

This man is only good for getting a diagnosis. He's rude and condescending, but he'll give you your medicine.

Dr McMurrer is excellent. He helped me with my serious depression during college years after my father passed away . He is calm, a good listener and doesn't over analyze you. He is compassionate and really cares about his patients.

-very compassionate, patient and understanding; listens without judging; follows through to check progress; fully attends to the concerns of patients. Overall, an excellent Doctor who respects everyone equally. Service is his most important goal.

Dr. McMurrer is a seasoned, soft-spoken doctor who seems to have a lot of insight and expertise. I believe my son has benefited tremendously from treatment under him.
