My husband had surgery on August 26, 2025. We were told it was a low-risk VATS procedure and were assured that everything would go smoothly. The surgeon said it was routine and that my husband would likely go home in two to three days, even with the chest tube in place. He was also aware of my husband’s existing health conditions, so we felt confident moving forward. After the surgery, we became very concerned about the care my husband received. When the surgeon came by, he didn’t seem to know much about my husband’s condition or lab results. The team he left in charge did not seem able to make decisions or respond to changes in my husband’s condition. From what we saw, there was no clear plan for post-operative care. My husband started showing signs of respiratory distress, including a wet, hoarse cough, shortness of breath, and rapid breathing. Despite this, no respiratory treatments were started, and no lung or kidney specialists were brought in. It seemed like no one was… monitoring his condition closely or taking steps to prevent things from getting worse. By the third day, his lungs had filled with fluid, and he had to be moved to a higher level of care. It was a terrifying experience. What was supposed to be a straightforward procedure turned into something much more serious, and I believe it could have been avoided with better care after surgery. Thankfully, my husband is recovering now. It will take time, but we are hopeful. Based on our experience, I do not recommend this surgeon. I would strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about post-op care and who will be responsible for follow-up after surgery.
