Dr. Merrill earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia and completed his family practice residency at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. Practicing medicine since 1991, Dr. Merrill specializes in treating short-term illnesses and injuries for all ages, including sports and work-related injuries. I have been so blessed to have this doctor in my life! He is the most caring and passionate person and takes time to listen to you and then makes a decision with your permission to take steps with dealing with your care!

Dr Merrill had reviewed my records prior to my visit and was very thorough in evaluating my problem. He explained my diagnosis and clearly presented the options to me. He has a caring manner and I would highly recommend him.

First time w/ Dr. Merrill was in ER with first A-fib attack. At least I think it was Dr. Merrill, I was sorta in shock and never saw him again, internist ok'd me for release. At Follow-up appt, I was again handed off to an internist. Before 2nd appt, office called and wanted me to ok just seeing an internist. I said no, I would like to meet the dr. for a change. That appt would take 2/3 more months. That's when I quit, I don't even know if he really exists !!

I've seen several cardiologist in the practice over nearly 20 years time and I have to say that Dr. Merrill is the absolute most caring, , genuinely compassionate doctor among all of them at Cardiovascular Associates. This is counting both the Kingsport and Abingdon offices. He is just amazing and a true blessing to ALL his patients.

Dr. Merrill explained the procedure in detail. The procedure went well and my tachycardia (due to atrial flutter) went away immediately.

Excellent physician!! After 10 yrs of SVT and palpitations from a continuing heart problems. He finally was able to make them go away with the right medicine combination. Other physicians didn't worry too much about my symptoms but Dr Merrill took the time to take care of my need! Great bedside manner and good guy!!
