Dr. James Joseph Metcalf, DO

If this person is anyone other than the James Metcalf that practiced at Healthcare Partners in 2015 in Clark County, Nv than disregard this review. Took my wife to him with at least 7 waving red flags of an impending stroke. ie; kalidascope and tunnel vision, vertigo,numbness in limbs, high blood pressure, overweight, 2 pack a day smoker, high stress job. When we asked about the possibility of a mini or possible upcoming stroke he told us not to worry, it's probably an ear infection and advised us to see an ear nose and throat specialist She had her massive stroke on the same day of the ENT visit. 3 years later she's still in a wheelchair and paralized on the right side. He didn't even have the nads to stop by or call the hospital to ask "how ya doin?" If you walk into an office and see his shingle on the wall, burn rubber getting out of the parking lot. Car or no car.

Go to another doctor if you want competent result's. No good!!!!!

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE

Dr. Metcalf was absolutely professional yet personable with me. I have much experience with Drs. and he took time with me as well as explained many things as I asked questions. I am VERY IMPRESSED with both Dr. Metcalf and his staff.

I needed to find a new Primary Care Physician, that I was covered for by my Medicare disability carrier, and one that I could get into see, in a quick timeframe. I did some checking, got an appointment scheduled and I have been a patient of Dr. Metcalf's, for close to a year now. I have a chronic medical issue, that I see a specialist regularly for, but I was having some unrelated problems, that needed checking out. Dr. Metcalf went through my history with me in detail, I never felt rushed. We discussed my concerns at the time, and he ordered the necessary labs, tests and suggested referrals to some specialists, for the issues that were beyond his scope of expertise. He was very genuine and I left, feeling confident that I was receiving good care. His follow through was done with expediency and his staff was always courteous & professional. He goes over any tests that I have had, even those scheduled by specialists, that he is copied on. It's nice to know that I have a doctor that… wants to stay on top of things. I have been back several times over the year and I have been truly impressed, by his continued level of excellence. My husband started seeing him, not long after I did, and we are both happy patients of Dr. Metcalf and HCPNV. I would absolutely not hesitate to refer people to him.

After spending 5 hours in the ER, I made a follow up doctor visit with Dr. Metcalf, only because he was the only one available as soon as possible. I was told twice by two different doctors, that my blood pressure was high. When I went to see Dr. Metcalf, he waived it off, saying it's fine. He then said that I needed to be referred to a neurologist. That'd be great, if he took the time to actually speak with my about my other concerns! Twice I went to this doctor and twice he rushed through, didn't ask questions, and didn't listen to what I was trying to say. Not surprised it was so easy for me to get an appointment. From the time I walked in the waiting room to the time I left the office was less than 10 minutes. Total. Bedside manner? What bedside manner. More like drive through service!

I rated Dr. Metcalf a poor for bedside manner because there was nothing lower to rate him. He was rude, condescending, switched me from a pain med that I was taking for 5 years, without even reviewing my chart. I dont know if I was treated as a non human because Im on Medicaid or if he is just an inconsiderate smug know it all. Who by the way does not know it all. I would not recommend him to anyone. Not even the people I hate. I wouldnt let him treat my laundry stains much less myself. I am glad he left the office where he was working last. Now I dont have to change locations.

I was impressed with Dr. Metcalf's professionalism and knowledge. He was forthcoming with information, authoritative without being overbearing.
