Dr. James Gary Minnis, MD

Review is for December/2024. For the past few years I had a recurring, painful cyst on the back of my neck that was the size of a golf ball. It would come and go once a year, and when it was inflamed, the pain prevented me from laying on the couch and watching TV, and it affected my sleep. I was referred to Dr. Minnis from my dermatologist. Dr. Minnis was friendly and down to earth (not sure about his other reviews here on Yelp) and explained how he'd permanently remove my cyst. He advised surgery which would be less than hour, and I was nervous. Nervous because a couple of months before I had L5S1 surgery, and anesthesia and surgery; just too soon for me--but that's how I am. Dr. Minnis was right. I proceeded with the surgery and it was simple and easy. If anything, I was light-headed during the procedure which was perfect for me. Surgery was performed in Los Gatos at El Camino Health, and Dr. Minnis' surgery crew made the procedure painless as they (two young ladies have funny sense… of humors!) which calmed my nerves and helped me relax. I was concerned because at the time of my surgery, my cyst had shrunk. But Dr. Minnis found it and ran a subsequent biopsy. I then had a post-surgery appointment with Dr. Minnis and he recommended keeping the stitches for one more week to allow to completely heal. Stay away from cosmetic surgeons who don't accept insurance and will rip you off (one wanted $6500 from me for this procedure. See Dr. Minnis! I visited Dr. Minnis at his Los Gatos and Mt. Dr. Minnis took care of me recently. He is an exceptional surgeon with excellent communication skills. Very grateful to him for his skill and kindness. Excellent !
