Dr. James Selser Morris, MD

My 86 year old father being treated for prostate cancer that met. To his spine. We were never advised of the type or stage of the cancer. After 3 months of Firmagon treatment, my father cannot tolerate any more. I asked for a referral to Hospice so we could keep him as pain free as we can, Dr. Morris refused. Wouldn’t write 3 words on an RX pad…refer to hospice. If you need and are looking for a compassionate physician to treat your loved one with care and dignity, search elsewhere. Dr. Morris does not have those qualities. Now I’m having to search for a physician that is willing to do a zoom call….just want a simple referral.

As I sit waiting to see the doctor after 40 minutes of wait time due to inefficient staff who were unable to initially locate a CT scan taken in the emergency room two weeks prior, there was no communication when the scan was obtained, and there was no communication regarding transitioning to a room to be seen by the urologist. In fact I asked a nurse in passing how much longer the wait would be, she hesitates and inquired and I was told that I would be next and this was following my observation of three other patients being seen. This is poor poor patient relations. This was my second and last visit to this doctor. I am only sitting now because a CT scan was done and I need to see if the kidney stone from two weeks ago has passed. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone moving forward!!!!!!!!

I have been going to this Dr. for quite a few years. He did bladder surgery on me,because my bladder fell, the first time I met him because that was why I went to him. I have been having problems and different complaints ever since. I have never found out what he used because he is in and out so fast that you hardly have a chance to say anything. I finally thought he was going to help me a couple of months ago when I went he told me we would discuss surgery when I return for next visit. I went for my visit and he said that I should come back in a year but that he wasn’t afraid to do the surgery and walked out. I am dumbfounded because right now the pain is so bad I can’t sit down and it even hurts to walk. I can’t believe that he put me off once again for a year and don’t know what to do. I don’t know if any other Dr would want to fool with this since he is the one who started this. The only good thing is I see him in Gonzales and the wait is very short and I adore his nurse and… receptionist who are twins they couldn’t be any sweeter. I wish he was half as caring as they are.

Doesn’t care about anybody but himself. Running people through his office like herds. Doesnt spend any time with you. ALWAYS spend several hours past your appointment time waiting-then he spends about a minute with you. Just interested in putting you through one test after another to make $$$ never solves anything. Sadistic, enjoys making you hurt. Found another doctor.

Had kidney cancer 1-1/2 years ago. Had surgery, removed part of kidney that was cancerous. Have been getting screened and examined every three months for two years then will go into a 6 month cycle, after 2 years if not recurrence. Have had NO issue and his staff is friendly and very easygoing. Dr. Morris is even personable which is lacking in today's hustle and bustle doctors.

I am a nurse and was referred to dr Morris for mass on my kidney. Waited hours to see him. He spent 2 minutes with me and my family and was literally walking out of the room as we asked questions. In hospital, he never looked at incision and was completely disengaged and bedside manner non existent. My wound never healed and I ended up with draining abdominal wound and packing it daily and he looked at it less than 30 sec in the hallway! Only his nurse was helpful. My incision was crooked and staples like he was in a hurry and now I have an awful scar. He mishandled my case and his total lack of concern was evident! Worst dr and experience I have ever had in healthcare field

I had been a patient of Dr. Morris on and off for about 20+ years for prostate infection, vasectomy, etc...I hadn't been to him in several years. I had a yearly physical by my internist in 2014. He felt something unusual and asked me to make an appointment with my urologist so I made an appointment with Dr. Morris. I went in and he decided he wanted to do a biopsy (I demanded to have it done in the hospital). He found some questionable cells and did a follow up biopsy (again I demanded to have it done in the hospital) This time he found nothing. I continued to see him every six months for a year and a half or so having PSA tests each time. About a year and a half after this started OLOL began doing prostate MRIs so he ordered one for me. The results came back with a very small questionable spot so he did yet another biopsy in the office (He refused to do it in the hospital this time). His nurse called me two weeks later at 10 o'clock on a Monday morning at work and tells me Dr. Morris… has to speak to me. He comes to the phone and tells me I have cancer but if he had to choose a kind to have this is what he would choose. He tells me to make an appointment for blood work and a chest x-ray and "we would take care of it". I decided to get a second opinion at UT Medical Center by the chief urologist who after reading my case history told this was something to be watched but not acted upon. The gleason score was only a 4 and wasn't even considered by them to be cancer. I went the next year to Houston for my yearly check up and had another prostate MRI done there. The results came back COMPLETELY clear. I am thankful for my second opinion and would give Dr. Morris 0 stars or less but that's not one of the choices. Definitely FAR behind the times.

She chose Dr. Morris specifically because he was trained in the use of the surgical robot and she felt I needed exploratory surgery and possibly reconstructive surgery. After waiting for an hour and a half, I was taken for an ultrasound. I waited another hour before finally seeing the doctor. He spent about 3 minutes with me, did not seem to listen to my concerns at all and barely flipped through the notes from the consulting physician. He ordered another CT scan, which was not able to be scheduled for another month and told me that if there is a problem the scans should show something. He then told me the good news was that pain in the area I was having it was either urinary, gynecological, or bowel related and walked out. He gave me no instructions for follow up. It was a complete waste of 3 hours and now I… will have to find another urologist.
