Dr. James Patrick Murphy, MD

Doctor Murphy has been controlling my pain for years. He once treated all 4 of my family members but I am the only one that continues to need treatment. Everyone who works in his office is wonderful and truly care about you.

I have been going to Dr. Murphy for several years. I believe he truly wants to help patients with their chronic pain. He takes the time to listen and doesn't rush thru anything. Karen Doggett is also a very compassionate Dr. there who I have seen as well. Over the years, the staff has changed a lot and mostly for the better. When Faye the office manager was there, visits were disastrous. She was rude and treated patients terribly. Much better now that she is gone. I'm happy there as a patient but with one complaint...they are terrible at returning phone calls. Not sure who is responsible for that but it needs to improve. Most staff is friendly & knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Cannot get an appointment...Staff extremely rude and unprofessional. Has switched offices 3 times since I started with him. Too many pain management options in the area to go to this underwhelming office. Trust me...go somewhere else!!!

Office staff disorganized and be very sharp with the patient.

I have seen Dr Murphy for many years. I have seen him since he first started practicing. He doesn't seem to care anymore. He allows his staff to talk and treat his patients like garbage. I voiced my concerns and he just laughed it off. His staff is incompetent and rude. You can never get anyone to answer the phone. You leave several messages and never get a call back. When this is brought to the staff and office supervisor they always have an excuse. It seems he can't keep employees. I would assume because of the office manager Faye. She is unbearable. She yells at patients and hangs up on you if you question her or don't understand what she is saying. The other day she announced to the whole office she drank to much this weekend. Really? Nobody cares. This is not the first time I have heard her talk about her drinking. I have no idea what Dr. Murphy would want her to be the face of his company. I have caught her and other staff in multiple lies. I was made to stand outside in the heat… because his new office is so small that the waiting room is like a closet. There was no where to sit so I was standing right out of the waiting room door. She yelled at me and told me that I had to sit in the room or stand outside. There was no choice but for me to stand outside which is absolutely ridiculous. Then she brought me in to check me in and yelled at me and threatened to discharge me from the practice. While I was being seen my mom and children walked in. She started yelling at them immediately. My mom was not aware of their rule no children are allowed in the building. Instead of Faye telling my mom nicely she yelled at her and my kids. Then she continued chasing them out in the parking lot yelling at them. She then yelled at my mom telling her she was not going to put up with this anymore and told my mom she was going to discharge me from the practice. She scared my children. This was uncalled for. This was the last draw for me. I would not recommend anyone to this practice. I wish Dr. Murphy acted like he cared. He has changed so much over the years and not for the better. His practice is falling apart. The only good thing I can say is Karen his NP is great but she gets overshadowed by all the bad stuff in this office.

We were referred by the CRPS(RDS) association as a provider specializing in this condition. We left several messages, b/c you can't speak to an actual person when you call to make an a appointment, w/ no response. After a call from our PCP and Rheumatologist, 2 months later, we get a call from "Fay". What a piece of work she is! My husband was at work when she FINALLY called and him being distracted by a co-worker, he asked her to repeat her instructions and she responded "Let me dumb this down for you." I work in a doctor's office & know this is never ok to speak to a patient or ANYONE this way. At 48, my husband having been diagnosed w/ something as dibilatating as CRPS is also 2 months out of emergency open heart surgery, having his aortic & mitral valve replaced, along with having 2 bulging discs in his lower back went to his office today and was accused of drug seeking!?! He was told that Dr. Murphy never sees patients unless having a procedure. He spent 3 hours in the office,… filled out extensive paperwork & stated specifically that he had no interest in being given a prescription but left w/o seeing any medical professional and accused of being a "drug seeker". I heard wonderful things about Dr. Murphy but apparently, that's only if you can make it past the office manager Fay. I know being in the medical field that prescription drug use is a problem for sure, but take a look at someone's chart before you put labels on people. Shame on you Fay! What if someone treated your loved one that way?

Very nice doctor! He even called his office when he was done with procedure at hospital to have them follow up but they did not. Very wonderful bedside manner! Makes you feel very comfortable!

I really like Dr. Murphy and have been a patient for several years. I mainly see a PA now, Karen, and I don't know what I'd do without her. She is caring and understanding. Dr. Murphy used to fight for patients rights to live a pain free life. Now, i think he's more worried about all the dr being prosecuted for prescribing pain meds. I feel like a drug addict now, and never was made to feel that way until this year. Being drug tested every single month is absurd not to mention expensive. Especially after providing ct scans and x-rays.

I have had 2 appointments with this office. First appointment went well. The follow up not so much. I have been trying to get the office to work with my insurance company. This company seems to deny everything. Problem is, the office will not follow through. I am now without any medications. I have left 7 messages and have been hung up on 2x. The only call back I received was to notify me of the next appointment in 3 weeks. I am getting a feeling that this may be common practice with many of the pain management docs around town.

Dr. Murphy seems to be excellent and caring. However, his office staff are intolerable. One picked an argument with me and then used it as a reason to drop me from the practice. Its a shame, as many could benefit from the services if the office staff gave a crap.
