Dr. James Garnett Murphy, MD

How can I say enough good things about Dr. Murphy. I had reconstructive surgery many times after a car accident in 1976. I went to several surgeons and had dermabrasion two times by a quack that was sanding my face to oblivion. I somehow found Dr. Murphy and drove to Memphis. I lived in Kentucky at the time and have lived in Nashville almost all my life. Dr. Murphy saved me. I loved his kind and patient manner. He tried so hard to help me and he most definitely did. I still have scarring but I stopped the surgeries after eight of them to reconstruct my face. This man is golden. He worked miracles on my face. He told me he was in armed forces in Vietnam (maybe everyone is too young to remember) but Americans were left disfigured and that is when he said he decided he was going to try to make people whole again. This wonderful man is absolutely the best in his field. I adore him. I was left hideous and I was only 18 years old. I will be a friend of his for life. I should have written… this a long time ago. Dr. Murphy, if you read this, my name is Kim Lovan. I saw you for several years up to 1983. Thank you for your service in Vietnam. I adore you and believe you are at the top in your field!

Dr Murphy was referred 2 my by my insurance I was pleasantly surprised with everything. I’m a gastric sleeve pt who desperately needed a tummy tuck and could only use Insurance he was the only doctor who would take me. Dr Murphy & his staff took good care of me I followed all the instruction I healed perfectly. It’s been one year & I’m going back 2 have my thighs & breasts done

Dr. Murphy is wonderful. I walked in his office after having surgery by another Doctor, had a very bad infection and a great deal of pain. Dr. Murphy saw me immediately, he had to repair what had been done, Dr Murphy did a great job, I am very very pleased that he took the time and used his considerable skills to fix my problem

I had breast reduction surgery, and am extremely happy with my results. Dr. Murphy eased my fears going into surgery with realistic expectation of results/pain levels. Very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommend Dr. Murphy. Wish I had this done at least 10 years earlier. I feel great and my self esteem has gone through the roof.

Choosing to have this man as my surgeon was one of the worst things I have ever done. He gives false expectations and poor follow up care afterwards. I have lost feeling in half of my breast and unnecessary scarring from scabs being ripped away by this doctor.

Gives unreal expectations to gain business. So interested in gaining clients that appointments are often pushed back to squeeze in extra surgeries. From infections to unnecessary scarring, and insensitive patient care, this man is careless.

I don't expect Dr's to be your best friend, however I felt a bit rushed and not enough time was spent explaining the procedure to me. I felt like just another patient, however the Dr. was nice. The staff was as well, and they called you by name which is a rarity! Dr. Murphy is the only surgeon in memphis that takes Tricare, and it's really nice of him to do so...considering it's AWFUL insurance and he basically gets paid nothing for doing the procedure!
